A. The Benefit of Microteaching Class


When the first time I heard about Microteaching class I did not given much thought to how I
would get the benefit by taking a microteaching class, until finally I really in that class for
one semester. It is because microteaching class is obviously about teaching practice and will
be done in the class which has to involve my friends who would be pretended to be my
student. In this case, I would like to say that I’m not a kind of person who used to teach and
easily show myself in front of a lot of people.Although I’ve experienced before about how to
do a simulation in the classroom for several times on the previous semester, but I still feel a
little bit worry about the way I would teach in the classroom later on. In this semester I am
taught by Ms.Artini which I’m very happy because she had been taught me before on the
previous semester. It was on my fourth semester when she taught “Strategi Pembelajaran”
subject. She is a very kind, flexible, patience, and friendly lecturer and that is why I feel
comfortable when she teach me because she could convince her students to do something
well by giving some motivational advices.

In this sixth semester, in microteaching class I learnt about many things. Even though I still
have weaknesses and face some troubles in teaching activity I still can learn about how to
manage class when it does not go well as what have been expected. Therefore the first
benefit that I could get from this subject is that I can think critically force myself to get ready
for preparing every material that I have to teach or simulate in microteaching class.
Otherwise I'm not ready and don't know what teach in the class which is obviously could
affect to my score for this subject. Therefore, I cannot easily ignore the duty to do a
simulation in the class. The second benefit that I can feel is that I can control my feeling to
not feel nervous. Therefore, I feel more confident in doing the simulation in front of the
classroom. Also, I can avoid to do a lot of mistake when the simulation is in action.The next
benefit is about improving my skill in teaching by doing a lot of simulations. I can know for
how to use the right skill when I will be teaching in the real classroom. Actually there are a
lot of benefits from microteaching clasa that I can get. I can improve myself become a better
person than before. Because it is not only about how to teach well in the classroom it is also
about the experience and the life value that I can get from this class. My lecturer gave me
some very motivational advices. One that I remember that really inspires me is that she said
that this class is not only about how to teach well but you also can be ready in real life foe
how to think critically, doing something consistently, prepare everything well, solve
problems and you will be ready to face a real life and be prepared to enter working world.
Overall even I faced some struggles in preparing the material, but I still can try to so my best.

B. My Friends’ Reflection Judgment


After doing the simulation, we used to give some comments and suggestions to the students
who had done the simulation. All of the students give their own opinion about the simulation.
We discuss it together and it can be a reflection for the student who does the simulation. I
also get all the comments and suggestion from my friends and also my lecturer. From all of
the comments are really help me to improve myself become better than before. There are
good also bad comments that I can get from my simulation that I’ve done in the classroom.
For the good things came from my effort and can be my motivation to keep my strategy in
doing the sinulation. For the bad things came from my mistakes that I did in my simulation
for example when I gave them a game but then I did not focus and then finally we had a
debated about my mistakes in giving the key answer to the students. That makes me realized
that I should keep focus no matter in giving a game or giving explanation in the class. My
friends said that I need to be more focus to make the game run well. After that I think that it
is really important to stay focus in doing the simulation.

C. The Benefit of Microteaching Class And Myself-reflection for preparing myself to PPL-
Real
There are a lot of benefits that wee can get in microteaching class. It gives benefits to all the
participants and event. One of it can be said that microteaching class can also give the
benefits to students for preparing the PPL-Real. Here are some benefits to prepare for PPL-
Real:
1. Elasticity of practice:

Micro-teaching helps in developing various skills in trainees as well as the


current teaching staff. It helps in improving the handling skills of the teachers. It
gives better opportunity due to small-scale teaching. Also, it broadens the
knowledge of various techniques of teaching.

2. Confidence booster:

Micro teaching is a personality enhancer too. Due to several micro teaching


activities and practices, micro teaching effectively increases the confidence level
of the teachers. Moreover, the experience of teaching enables them in better
classroom management.

3. Budget oriented:

Unlike other various programs and seminars that are very costly, micro teaching
program is budget oriented. Teachers can practice within the real class or at any
other place.

4. More learning and less damage:

Micro teaching program is conducted with not more than 3-4 students at a time.
This makes it possible to acquire a better teaching experience. In addition, it
lessens the chances of mistakes.

5. Improves attitude:

A positive attitude contributes to better results. Thus, one of the objectives of this
program is to guide the trainees to attain a positive attitude towards any criticism.
As a result, negative feed backs also motivate the trainees to strive for
betterment.
6. Promotes systematic lesson planning:

Lesson planning is one of the skills that a teacher needs to master. Micro
teaching program, within a given content, helps the trainee to prepare systematic
lesson plans.

7. Instant feedback:

Feedbacks are the best way to improve. Micro teaching enables the teachers to
gain instant feedbacks from the supervisors. An instant feedback gives more
potential for rectifying mistakes.

8. Mastering skills:

This program helps in mastering types of micro teaching skills and strategies like
lecturing, questioning, probing and initiating discussions. Further, it helps in
improving a separate teaching style.
