PRINCIPLES OF CHEMICAL PROCESS

MINI PROJECT/ CASE STUDY
SEMESTER JANUARY 2019

General instruction:
1. Divide yourself into groups based on your Lecture class (minimum 3 students,
maximum 4 students in a group).
2. Please read the mini project submission form since your report must reflect to the
description stated to obtain good marks respectively.

Instruction
Prepare a report consist of :

1. Prepare a complete process flow diagram (PFD) for any production in chemical industry.
2. Briefly explain on the process in your own words and the working principle for all equipments
involve.
3. Choose 2 main equipments from PFD and draw and label the flow chart (include input, output,
phase,temparature and pressure)
4. Material and energy balance
- Identify and explain the process whether reactive process or non reactive process
- Perform the material and energy balance for each equipment chosen
- Calculate the heat required during the process

Mini project guidelines/ format

1. The assignment/ mini project is considered as a group work. Everyone must contribute an effort
towards the preparation of the assignment.
2. Font:Arial, Size:11, Line and Paragraph, Spacing: 1.5, Allignment:Justify.
