Himawari-8 is a geo-stationary weather satellite used by the agency in weather

forecasting, tropical cyclone analysis and for research purposes. The sunshine

recorder also known as the Campbell stokes recorder is used to measure sunshine. The

indicates how many hours the sun shone during the day. The rain gauge measures the

amount of rainfall or precipitation. Thermometers are used to measure outdoor

temperature (high or low). The weather balloon measures weather condition higher up

in the atmosphere. The DOST-PAGASA staffs release the weather balloon in the air

twice a day (8am and 8pm). And other important equipment in forecasting.

Being part of the team who conducted internship training in DOST-PAGASA

is such a great privilege and looking forward for more learnings and knowledge.
