Foundation Phase Awards
Last week Thursday Bryneven was invited to
attend the District Foundation Phase Awards
Ceremony. We are pleased to announce that
Joshua Coolen (3D) placed 3rd in our District for
the Spellathon competition, well done to him and
congratulations to Dora Wang (3A) who was
declared the District Champion for the Grade 3
Mental Maths Challenge. There are close to 100
primary schools in our district and Dora was able
to score 100% in her test. A fantastic effort
indeed! Dora will now proceed to represent our
district at the Provincial level challenge later this
year.

Grade 7 - Entrepreneur’s Day
Last Friday 13th September, our grade 7 learners
had the opportunity to be their own boss for the
day with their participation in the Annual
Entrepreneur’s day. We were blessed with some
wonderful weather and the young businessmen
and businesswomen sold their goods and services
to some really enthusiastic consumers. At the
end of the day after cleaning up their areas the
grade 7’s of 2019 calculated their profit/loss for
the day. A majority of the businesses made a
profit with a few learning the hard way about the
risks of running a business. Well done to our
grade 7’s of 2019 as they brought in R56 504 as
income with R23 316 as profit.
Bryneven Family Golf Day
A big thank you from the Fundraising Committee
to everyone who took part in our Golf Day! The
golfers had an awesome day out and enjoyed a
lovely dinner with their spouses and children
afterwards! Also, a massive thank you to the Golf
Day committee, for your time, dedication and

Extra Mural
Athletics – The Prestige Event
Well done to our Athletics team who competed in
the Athletics Prestige Event (season ending meet
for the top schools in their leagues) that took
place on the 3rdSeptember at Bryandale
Primary. We are very proud to announce that
Bryneven finished first and brought the Cup
home. Thank you to Mrs Harrison and Mr
Naicker and the Athletics staff for an
outstanding season.
Cross country
Well done to Megan Roome (5D) who
participated in the 2019 South
African Cross-Country Championships
on the 7th of September in Centurion
at Uitsig High school. She competed
in the U/11 girls 3km race in a field
of over 150 girls from around the
country and placed an impressive
32nd. She was representing Central
Gauteng Athletics at these championships which
is the premier cross-country event on the South
African cross country calendar.
