o He was suspended by the University and revoked the award that he won. He apologized

 Do you think technology and the internet have made plagiarism easier? Do you think
technology has made people more or less creative? Explain your answer by citing
examples.
o Yes, technology and the internet has a big impact to the productivity of people and also
made plagiarism easy. Because of internet, people can easily get the IP of others without
their permission or proper credit. Technology lead people to laziness that they do plagiarize
others works.

2. Second article: “UP Grad in Photo Plagiarism gets Redemption”


 According to the article, how did Solis redeem himself? What job did he have?
o Mark Solis apologized to the people and to the committee who organize the competition
and returned the award that he won in the competition. After graduating in the University,
he held a football program for street children at the field in Pasay City.

 What project did he help?


o He supports a football club for children aged 8 to 12 years old.

 What is there to learn about the life of Solis?

We are just humans, we make a lot of mistakes because we are not perfect. If we make mistakes,
it does not mean we are sinners, we can redeem ourselves by doing good deeds like Mark Solis.

 What did Carabuena do that made netizens angry?


o He slapped and beat the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) aide
Fabros after he was pulled over for a traffic violation and caught on camera.

 Describe the acts of cyber bullying that the netizens did to Carabuena. Do you
think their actions are justifiable? Defend your answer?
o The recorded video was posted on social media and went viral. I think their action is not
justifiable because it is not good, it is still a form bullying.
 How did the incident affects Carabuena’s life?
o He was so depressed because of the comments that he received from the people at the
Fiscal’s Office.

 Do you think technology and the internet has made bullying easier?
o Yes, through internet people can easily bully people.

o No, boys and girls doesn’t share the same Internet usage. 78% of the girls are using social
media like Facebook and Instagram, while only 52% of boys made their online through
social media. Boys are more on gaming.

 Cite one real life example in your school or community of teenagers who have
experienced computer addiction. What happens to them? Have they recovered
from their addiction?
o Because of computer addiction, teenagers cut classes and forgot eating their lunch. Some
of them got sick because of nonstop playing games.

 Give 2 pieces of advice from Tablets for Schools to avoid computer addictions.
o Focus on study
o Find an interest on playing outdoor games like basketball.

ON DIGITAL DIVIDE IN THE PHILIPPINES

 Describe the internet connection status in the Philippines, in terms of number of


people with internet connection, the average internet broadband download speed
compared to other countries, and the average cost of monthly Internet services.

 Today the Philippine lags behind the world in terms of Internet


connectivity, internet broadband download speed and in internet cost
accessibility. In September 2013, 71% of Filipinos had no access to the
Internet through any means. Filipinos who are well to do can afford
access internet. The Philippines’ average connection speed per user was
only around 2 Mbps compared to South Korea’s 21.9 Mbps, Japan’s
12.8 Mbps, Hong Kong’s 12.2 Mbps, Taiwan’s 8.3 Mbps, Singapore’s
7.9 Mbps, and the global average of 3.8 Mbps. On average,
consumers pay around Php 1,000 a month for Internet service with
speeds up to 2 Mbps. Expensive compared to other country like
Singapore ( 15 Mbps).

 How does the Philippines’ slow Internet connection affect the SMEs? Do you
think a faster Internet connection can promote better income for them?

o Slow internet can affect our Small Medium Enterprises like Buy and Sell if their customers
cannot contact them they cannot engage popularity and revenue, and in Computer Shops
like in Gaming or Researching your homework, the customer needed a snappy quick
results of what they are searching for.

 Do you think commercial stores or offices have websites? What are the
advantages and disadvantages that can you foresee?

Yes, because it can be used as a marketing strategy to gain more profit.

The advantages of having a website are:

 Reaching a Wider Audience


- The company will reach a wider audience because nowadays millions of
people are using internet and some of them are the potential costumers.
 They can access Anytime and Anywhere
- The advantages of having website is your business information and the details
about your location and your product especially the price in the so they can
access your website anytime and anywhere
 Securing your Brand Online
- Having a website online is an essential way to protect your business brand
online and it will helps you to secure your website against the competitors use
social media accounts or other websites to damage your business reputation.

While the disadvantages are:


• Reliability
- The information on your website might be unreliable if not updated on a regular basis.
You need to ensure that changes are made when necessary and have a disclaimer with
regards to there liability of the information contained within.
• Crashes
- A website that crashes is no good to anyone. This is a serious disadvantage for a business.
If your website is constantly crashing or unavailable then people will not be able to find
information about your business and you could miss out on potential sales.
• SPAM
- With a contact form or your e-mail address published on your website, you’ll soon find
your inbox filling up with spam e-mails unless you use Form Guard or a captcha tool.
