Purposive Communication

Every morning, citizens from San Rafael Santo Tomas are complaining on a very
foul smell coming from the garbage that is thrown beside a small creek. Like any other
people around our vicinity, this is also a big problem for me because every time I wait
for a jeepney, this scenario ruins my fresh look every day. One solution was made only
for this problem is by posting a big sign of “BAWAL MAGTAPON NG BASURA DITO”.
But unfortunately, ignorance of citizens still prevails. This ironic signage has been
ignored for 2 years and has not made any progress and it seemed like throwing their
garbage beside the creek has been a thing. The irresponsibility and lack of discipline has
been reflected and the results were really disappointing.

One elder told me that the creek used to be a clean passage way of water and one
cannot see any remnants of dirt however to her surprise, as the years passed by, that
place was now full of pollution because it became home for non-biodegradable wastes.
Little did I know that our whole family share the same disappointment and as a result,
we started the change within our household by sorting out garbage through different
classifications and even follow the proper waste disposal. This is because we believe
that change starts within ourselves but even if we initiated the change for a very long
time, the change as a whole does not make any progress and the problem just became
worse. Is it really too late for the change that we are waiting for so long?
