University.
This year’s edutrip collaborates with Lincoln University where nursing students
conduct comparative studies to add insight.
The reasons for choosing Lincoln University are:
1. Students can study health education and cultural technology in Nursing Faculty of
Lincoln University, Malaysia.
2. Students can compare between Riau University and Lincoln University about the
health education, technology, and also learning system so that students can share
their knowledge to the others.
3. Students can feel better to learn after refreshing their minds in Malaysia by
touring the famous places.
B. Purpose
The general objective of this study is to increase student knowledge.

II. DISCUSSION
A. EduTrip Activity Time
This EduTrip activity is carried out for 4 days, from the first day of departure to
the fourth day of return. This activity was held on July 1st to July 4th, 2019.
3. Second Day
On the second day, we departed from the inn to the Lincoln University
campus for breakfast and attended a kind of public lecture filled by great lecturers
and opened our minds as nursing students.
The first lecture material was delivered by Hj. Mansur about Intensive
Nursing Care from various countries. This is intended so that the provision of
nursing actions carried out from the heart and carefully in treating patients. Every
country has a difference in caring for patients, which is why as nurses we must be
able to take positive things from the different ways to treat patients for better
patient care. Hj. Mansur also told us to continue studying because not all nurses
function as nurses but can also assist in teaching, research, client advocates and
consultants.
The second material was delivered by Mr. Ramesh where the material is
divided into 2 parts. The first part is the College of Health Workers in The Face of
Industrial 4.0. In his explanation, he stressed that the more advanced an era; there
will be a lot of work that was eventually taken over by robotics. For this reason, it
is important for nurses to remain in existence and to use technology to provide the
best care for patients. He also said that a nurse must have an Internal Locus of
Control in providing nursing care so that nurses do it happily not for the sake of a
compliment.
Next, Mr. Ramesh explained the second part of his lecture material
entitled Professional Nursing Today - Implication for Practice and Health Care
Delivery. He explained that nurses must have high accuracy. Talking about nurses
today, nurses have positions such as register nurses, midwife nurses, military
nurses, and much more. This explanation is in line with the explanation of Hj.
Mansur about the existence of nurses. I am very grateful to be able to take part in
this general lecture. There is a lot of motivation that I get from this great lecturer.
I feel that being a nurse is not as bad as others think, especially the presence of
nurses in Indonesia. I am sure Indonesia also has great nurses as explained by
lecturers from Lincoln University.
Around 12:30 noon, Mr. Ramesh closed his lecture and we held a photo
session. After that we were allowed to have lunch before my friends performed
the Ashar prayer.
At 13.30, we continued our trip to the State Palace. There we saw a very
grand palace. We took a few photos before we proceeded to the Chocolate Factory
where the original Malaysian chocolate was produced there. We were given the
opportunity to explore and buy chocolate souvenirs there. After satisfied
exploring the Chocolate Factory, we head to the big shopping center. There we
were given the opportunity to buy a souvenir for our family and friends.
Around 6 pm, we continued our journey to the Petronas Twin Towers. Once again,
we were given time to explore the Twin Towers and surround the mall. Around 10
pm we returned even though before me and one of my colleagues lost our way
home and hardly found a way out. Fortunately, seniors are happy to pick us up
who are lost in this big mall.
4. Third Day
On the third day, we got ready at 8 am and had breakfast about one hour
before departure to the Hospital Angkatan Tentara Tuanku Mizan. After we
finished eating, we entered the bus and spent about one and a half hours traveling
to get to the hospital. Arriving there, we were warmly welcomed by hospital staff
ranging from doctors, nurses, to apprentice students.
There we were invited to enter the meeting room before going around, the
aim was to introduce the profile of this hospital. During the explanation of the
hospital profile, the speaker explained that this hospital was a royal hospital and
the patients here were royal soldiers. The wounded soldier will be treated in this
hospital and not only that, the hospital also serves the families of sick soldiers.
Medical expenses have been borne by the royal government so that patients no
longer need to pay for medical expenses. However, unlike the case with general
patients (not from the army or army families), they had to pay medical expenses
and the hospital claimed that the cost of medicine there was much cheaper.
After finishing explaining the profile of the hospital, we were invited to
tour the hospital and be introduced to the treatment rooms. Not much different
from hospitals in Indonesia that have the principle of "patient goals", this hospital
is equipped with sophisticated tools that can help facilitate patient care. The only
difference is in friendliness. Hospital Angkatan Tentara Tuanku Mizan is very
attentive to his patients and they are always friendly to both of the patient and the
patient's family.
Then we were taken to a room that stored a tube called hyperbaric. They
have used this technology to help patients speed up the healing process and also to
neutralize nitrogen levels in the blood. This technology uses pure oxygen where
the oxygen will be reduced to make it easier for molecules to enter cell tissue in
the body. Patients who will enter this tube will first undergo a new health
examination process and will then enter the tube. Patients will be asked to remove
all accessories and use special clothing prepared by the hospital. Afterwards,
patients are allowed to enter into a hyperbaric tube and must use a mask during
this therapy. This therapy is carried out with various times, ranging from 45
minutes to one hour in one meeting session.
The next room is a rehabilitation room which is divided into several,
namely physio therapy, occupational therapy, hydro therapy and gymnasium. I
will explain a number of different therapies that I have not found in Pekanbaru.
The first is hydro therapy, where this therapy is specifically for patients who are
overweight, have spinal pain problems and do not allow using medical devices at
the gymnasium. These patients will be trained in a pool that has been arranged in
such a way. Previously, the pool would be set at 36-38 degrees Celsius before the
patient entered the pool. In one session, patients will undergo therapy for 30-45
minutes.
The second is the gymnasium. Interestingly, from this space, this room is
filled with tools that we usually find at a gym. Here the tool is adjusted for its use
for patients so that it facilitates the recovery process. The tools have also been
arranged beforehand so that they can detect heart rate, pulse, and so on. I really
like this room and feel that the technology they use is all for the health of patients.
Still in the rehabilitation room, we were then taken to a special room for
patients with Down syndrome who used several devices to enhance their
imagination and as a sedative space. Then, we were taken to see a room equipped
with tools that I did not recognize. It is also used for physical therapy and assesses
our strength or ability to lift weights. And the last room is a room that is designed
like a house with several tools that are used to train patients to move
independently and train their muscle strength. Usually this room is intended for
patients with conditions of mild or severe strokes or patients who experience
nerve disorders that result in patients having difficulty moving their limbs.
After being satisfied exploring this part of the rehabilitation room, I
realized that this hospital uses technology to improve patient care and reduce the
risk of major nursing actions. This hospital highly respects reverence in caring for
patients so patients can feel the nurse's sincerity in caring for them.
Around 11.00 a.m., we returned to the bus after we thanked the hospital
for allowing us to see and add our knowledge as nurses. We took several photo
sessions and they were very happy to be able to warmly welcome us. This hospital
is a very good hospital in my opinion, not only the technology that they use but
also the services that they don’t look at the people they come from. I remember,
one of the nurses who served as the head of the room said that we as nurses must
provide the best service we can for patients, because the needs of each patient are
different and the service must be in accordance with the needs of the patient.
At 12 p.m., we had lunch at Batu Caves tourist site and then we proceed to
several tourist attractions such as Genting Higlands.
