ABSTRACT
Education is a conscious and deliberate effort to create an atmosphere of
learning and the learning process so that learners are actively developing the
potential for him to have the spiritual power of religion, self-control,
personality, intelligence, noble character, and skills needed him, society, nation
and country. To realize the goals of education in Indonesia, one of the most
important factors which affect is the professionalism of teachers in
implementing the learning activities. The teacher is a professional job, hence
LPTK has implemented a competency-based curriculum. Teacher competence
includes four major ways personal competence, professional competence, social
competence, and competence paedagogik. In conjunction with educational
professionals, teacher competence is needed to meet the specifications in the
implementation of educational tasks that include characteristics of prerequisites
include: relevant to teaching and quality oriented. Besides, there should be a
high appreciation and recognition to a teacher in order to produce quality
education.
Education is a conscious and planned effort to create a learning atmosphere and

The teacher is a professional job, so the LPTK has applied competency-based
curriculum. Teacher competency includes four important things namely personal
competence, professional competence, social competence, and competence
paedagogik. In conjunction with educational professionals, competencies the
teacher is very Necessary to meet the specifications in carrying out the tasks of

Praise and Gratitude we prayed to the Presence of God Almighty, because


thanks to the abundance of grace and the gift of his so that we can develop this
Idea Engineering task properly and on time. In this task we will discuss the
Education Profession.

A. Rationalization Issues
Manufacture Engineering Task This idea is to give an overview of the
importance of the professionalism of teachers in improving the quality of
education as well as various themed issue professionalism of teachers and find
out how the solutions and the discussion of these issues.

IDENTIFICATION ISSUES educational PROFESSION

A. General Problems of Professional Education


Remember, you will not acquire knowledge except with six cases which I
will explain all to you briefly, namely intelligence, love for knowledge, patience,
supplies or pricing, instructions and a long teacher (Sheikh Ibrahim, 1993: 10).
The expression above gives us that one way to obtain a science is the
involvement of teachers in the learning process that takes place. How important
teachers in a learning process so that implementation can take place with a good
education and the achievement of the goals of education in Indonesia.
Therefore, how to get teachers to improve the quality of education for the
purpose of education in Indonesia is in want can be realized.
It is common knowledge that the quality of education in Indonesia is still low.
Quite a lot of evidence that can be used to support that position. The average
results of the national final examination, final school examinations, or whatever
it is, for all subjects ranged in the range of 5 to 7 only. Various surveys
conducted by international agencies also put Indonesia on student achievement
in the bottom position. Lastly, the survey results TIMSS 2003 (Trends in
International Mathematics and Sciencies Study) under the umbrella of the
International Association for Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) ranks
Indonesia 34th in mathematics and in position 36 for the sciences from 45
countries surveyed (Kompas, 2004). Discussion of ordinary people everywhere
are all aware that the quality of education in Indonesia is still low. To improve
the quality of education, so it needed a professional teacher. Frequently asked
questions and often sounds our ears that is why the quality of education in
Indonesia is low? The question actually has been a common question and a
classic in the community and the answer was well known, the most important
because teacher quality is generally low. Yet on the other hand, various
upgrading courses, workshops, briefing new curriculum or whatever it is being
conducted. Fabrics range or banners to inform their diverse activities and
workshops upgrading almost every day we read in the streets, in cities large and
small. However, the results, the quality of education is still too low. Why is the
quality of education in the country is generally low beloved? Therefore, I want

to examine the importance of the professionalism of teachers in improving the
quality of education in Indonesia beloved.

B. Identification of Problems
1. The world of education today is very worrying, especially in Indonesia. Lately we have all
seen how many of our students who were attending school does not pass the national final
examination (UAN) amount is even more than the previous year. What's wrong with our
education? The number of students who did not pass, certainly not just because the students
themselves who can not learn properly or not able to complete the national final exam well in
accordance with a predetermined standard value.

2. Did the technical implementation of education has been making maximum


efforts to educate their students in a professional manner with a learning
system that is appropriate and well targeted and how the actual process of
learning in this country as well as the school institution can the tools and
means to learn pursued properly so that students are able to learn by well? To
be a professional staff of teachers must improve its capabilities. He must be
able to anticipate the changes and development, able to design and
implement learning activities that refers to good teaching and learning
process.

3. Of the various arguments and reports that there is currently a lot of


students who do not pass largely because educators are not able to carry out
the teaching and learning process. This is very alarming and ironic. How could
produce students who can reach the standard value set by educators who are
incompetent and incapable of teaching? Moreover, if a system and method are
applied not support the students learning and even educate.

SOLUTIONS AND DISCUSSION

A. The first problem


No. 14 of 2005 concerning teacher defines that professional is any work or
activity carried out by a person's life and a source of income that requires
expertise, skills, or skills that meet certain quality standards or norms and
require professional education.
In recent years, public attention to the quality of teachers and teacher
education has a policy of encouraging and accrediting agencies in the United
States to hold teacher preparation programs (TPPs) is responsible for the
effectiveness of their graduates (Kevin C. Bastian, 2016). Education is
probably one of the most important social events in human life. Teachers and
educators play an important role in supporting and motivating students. They
must constantly improve ourselves to be visionary and well-rounded in the
fields they teach. They must be disciplined in the workplace (Ninlawan,
2015). Because, the main purpose of the study is to prepare students to
become successful workers in the world of work (Finch, R, & Crunkilton,
1999).
In achieving a good quality of education is strongly influenced by the
performance of teachers in performing their duties so that the performance
of the teacher becomes an important requirement to achieve educational
success. In general, a good quality of education became the benchmark for
the success of the performance of the teachers. However, reality shows that
the quality of teachers in Indonesia is still relatively low. This is partly due to
the non-fulfillment of the quality of education. Therefore, the performance
of the teachers are concerned, and strive to be improved (Markos & Sridevi,
2010).

B. The second problem


One effort in teacher professional development by increasing and
developing skills can be acquired through a learning process. Professional
development of teachers studied and presented in the relevant literature in

many different ways. But always at the core of these efforts is to understand
that the teacher professional development is about learning, learning how to
learn, and transform their knowledge for the benefit of their students
practice (Avalos, 2011). In principle, it can be said that the main purpose of
education, in general, the achievement of an optimal preparation of future
professionals.
One of the interesting aspects to be studied from the figure of a teacher
is the aspect of performance, because the performance of teachers according
to the most important input in education (Nadeem & et.al, 2011). However,
based on facts show the teacher's performance is still not optimal. Not
optimal performance of teachers, it is shown among other teachers do not
make a lesson plan (RPP), ignoring the administrative requirements for
teachers, giving a task in the absence of the face, the lack of teaching
materials that attract the use of models and methods are monotonous, and
evaluation of learning that has not been optimal.

Given the importance of the performance of teachers in education, it is


necessary to improve the performance of teachers. Based on behavioral
theory of Luthans many factors that can affect the performance of teachers.
One factor that greatly affects the performance of the teachers include
teacher professional development factor, the factor that made the study of
this research.

C. The third issue

Work ethics, code of conduct and work ethic merupaka three things are
interrelated and have a major role in realizing the process and quality of work.
The effectiveness and efficiency of a work will depend largely on three issues.
Therefore, every teacher should understand, appreciate, and third practice it in
the overall performance. In the process of teaching and learning, teachers as
teachers and students as subjects of study demanded their particular
qualifications profile in terms of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values as well
as personal traits that iti process can take place effectively and efficiently.
Ethics is essentially a basic consideration in decision-making on moral human

interaction with the environment. Generally, ethics can be interpreted as a
philosophical discipline that is needed in the interaction of human beings in
selecting and deciding the patterns of behavior as well as possible based on the
scales prevailing morals. With the ethics, people can pick and choose good
behavior appropriate moral norms in force. Thus, it will create a good human
relations and harmonious as mutual respect, mutual respect, mutual help and so
on. In the world of work, ethics is indispensable sebegai foundation work
behavior of teachers and other education personnel. The work ethic is typically
formulated on a deal supporters of the work with reference to the basic
resources and moral values. The formulation of the agreed work ethic was called
code of conduct. The code of ethics in the simple sense is the rule or norm of
behavior. In a broader sense code of conduct are the provisions that govern the
behavior of a person (Voice Teacher, 1999: 14). Thus the code of conduct is the
rule or the norms that govern the behavior of a person in connection with his
profession or mutually agreed, the Shah, and serves as a driving force of society
and as a means of control. With a code of ethics that, the ethical behavior of
the workers will be controlled, assessed, improved and developed. The
properties are classified into moral-ethical or noble character that must be
owned by the teacher is able to be honest, be fair to anyone, love for truth, act
wisely and prudently, prefer to forgive, not haters and vindictive, willing to
admit their own mistakes, sincere sacrifice, selflessness, and abstain from acts
of misconduct. Besides a teacher is required to have a good nature, teachers
also demanded also have attitudes that good is to be polite, be agile and
enthusiastic, to be optimistic, have the foresight and spacious, have their full
attention to the students, have the full attention to the activities -kegiatan
grade, temper honest and patient, friendly applies to students, always neat in
dress, to be disciplined, help with the problems of students, as well as be able
to work carefully and thoroughly.

A. Conclusion
Profession is a job that requires the expertise of its members.
Professionals are people who have the expertise and display your talents, skills
required by the profession. Professionalization is the process of improving skills
in the work, while the professionalism of someone who has a covenant
commitment for his profession.Qualified teachers are those who have the ability
under the occupation, if teachers at older students, they will have a higher
capacity of any type of institutions.

B. Recommendations
Being a teacher is not an easy thing to do, a lot of challenges and
responsibilities acceptable if one becomes a teacher. Therefore, if we are
determined to become a teacher must we learn in earnest because teachers play
in educating the nation's children. Teachers must be professional and
government have a role in educating teachers to become teacher
professionalism.
