 PREFACE
I am the student of ME at Wah Engineering College, Wah Cantt and our university assigned
us to do internship for the period of 4 weeks to enhance our practical skills in the industry /
factory environment of any organization. The objective of this internship program is expose
our self in to practical atmosphere where we can observe, analyze and even practice the
application of the professional knowledge that we have required during the course of our
studies.

I was selected to do my internship in POF for 4 weeks in different departments of POF. 2

days in the POF Transportation from 1-07-2019 to 2-07-2019. It gave me greater practical
knowledge about the Mechanical Engineering. In the following pages I have narrated my
experience, observation and all working activates which I observed.
 Transportation
Introduction:
Transport or transportation is the movement of humans, animals and goods from one location
to another. In other words, the action of transport is defined as a particular movement of an
organism or thing from a point A to a Point B. Vehicles traveling on these networks may
include automobiles, bicycles, buses, trains, trucks, helicopters, watercraft, spacecraft and air
craft.

Shops:
In transportation there are many shops including:
 Petrol shop
 Diesel shop
 Denting shop
 Painting shop
 Auto electrician shop
 Ancillary shop
 Battery shop
 Tyre shop
 Motorbycycle shop

Engine
An engine or motor is a machine designed to convert one form of energy into mechanical
energy.
IC Engine
An internal combustion engine (ICE) is a heat engine where the combustion of a fuel occurs
with an oxidizer (usually air) in a combustion chamber that is an integral part of the working
fluid flow circuit.

Petrol Engine
A petrol engine (known as a gasoline engine in American English) is an internal combustion
engine with spark-ignition, designed to run on petrol (gasoline) and similar volatile fuels.
In most petrol engines, the fuel and air are usually mixed after compression (although some
modern petrol engines now use cylinder-direct petrol injection). The pre-mixing was formerly
done in a carburetor, but now it is done by electronically controlled fuel injection, except in
small engines where the cost/complication of electronics does not justify the added engine
efficiency.
Diesel Engine
The diesel engine (also known as a compression-ignition or CI engine), named after Rudolf
Diesel, is an internal combustion engine in which ignition of the fuel, which is injected into
the combustion chamber, is caused by the elevated temperature of the air in the cylinder due
to the mechanical compression (adiabatic compression). Diesel engines work by compressing
only the air.

Two stroke Engine

A two-stroke engine is a type of internal combustion engine which completes a power cycle
with two strokes of the piston during only one crankshaft revolution.
Four stroke Engine
A four-stroke engine is an internal combustion engine in which the piston completes four
separate strokes while turning the crankshaft. A stroke refers to the full travel of the piston
along the cylinder, in either direction.

Denting Shop
A depression in a surface made by pressure or a blow a dent in the side of a car. Informal a
significant, usually diminishing effect or impression. The loss put a dent in the team's
confidence. Informal Meaningful progress; headway: at least made a dent in the work.

Painting shop
Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface.
The medium is commonly applied to the base with a brush, but other implements, such as
knives, sponges, and airbrushes, can be used. The final work is also called a painting.

Battery shop
A battery is a device consisting of one or more electrochemical cells with external
connections provided to power electrical devices such as flashlights, mobile phones, and
electric cars. When a battery is supplying electric power, its positive terminal is the cathode
and its negative terminal is the anode.
Auto electrician shop
An electrician is a tradesman specializing in electrical wiring of buildings, transmission lines,
stationary machines, and related equipment. Electricians may be employed in the installation
of new electrical components or the maintenance and repair of existing electrical
infrastructure. Electricians may also specialize in wiring ships, airplanes, and other mobile
platforms, as well as data and cable lines.

Tyre shop
A tire or tyre is a ring-shaped component that surrounds a wheel's rim to transfer a vehicle's
load from the axle through the wheel to the ground and to provide traction on the surface
traveled over.
