All: Good morning everyone!

(Introduce ourselves)

Melody: So we are here to discuss our study Vac-Broom

Josh: So first, the introduction

Josh: Cleanliness greatly affects society. In this age, individuals who are concerned in cleanliness are
interested of the healthy state of the surroundings around the community. Cleanliness also helps people
to stay healthy and to avoid different kinds of diseases. On this day, society is still in clean state around
residential homes. Individuals living in urban or rural places practice maintaining cleanliness.

Nash: People learned to use different methods of cleaning for them to contribute sanitations and
decrease of environmental problems such as health-related diseases due to lack of cleanliness. One
method is using different cleaning tools like vacuum cleaners, brooms and etc.

Albert: A broom and dustpan became a fundamental cleaning tool for people in various ages. There are
many advantages in using broom. It can clean up immediately without having to search for extensive
attachments. It is inexpensive and requires little to no upkeep. Brooms also don’t rely to electricity.

George: According to Woodfolk JA (1993), Vacuum cleaners are essential for the removal of dust from
the surface of carpets. It is very helpful in cleaning houses and buildings. However, they may also
contribute to airborne allergen dust both by leakage through the cleaner and the disturbance of floor
dust.

Josh: The idea of both research studies involves two common resources, which is the broom and
vacuum, a dilemma that which of these fundamental tools can help more on cleanliness.

Melody: So, we, the researchers, will conduct a study that will combine the function of both vacuum
and broom.

Melody: So now, we will move on to the statement of the problem.

Nash: This study aims to make a Vac-Broom that has a feature of both broom and vacuum. This study
will answer the following questions below. (Read the slide).

Josh:So, next is the materials and methods.

Melody: This study will employ a developmental research design. Developmental research design has
been defined as the systematic study of designing, developing, and evaluating instructional programs,
processes, and products that must meet criteria of internal consistency and effectiveness. The
researchers chose a developmental design to evaluate and to determine the capability of Vac- Broom.
George: In the materials and equipment, the researchers will utilize the following materials. (Read the
table in the ppt).

Nash: Here in the product development, for the vacuum part, First, is to attach the vacuum motor to
the body part of the Vac - Broom then make a one hole on the top of the vacuum motor or body part for
the passage of the wirings . Next, the 9 Volts Battery is attached behind the vacuum motor. These two
components are placed inside the body part of the Vac - Broom, the body part is emplaced in part of the
shaft or the neck part.

Albert: Next is assembling all the available materials as parts of the product. First, is to make two
containers, the first container or the stomach part is for the wastes or the main particles, that is the dust
and dirt, and for the second container is for the body part where the motor and the battery is attached
inside it. Second, is to join the two containers closely. Next, attach the brush to the bottom of the
stomach part using clip. Third, is to attach the shaft or the neck part in the hole of the body part, and
make a one hole on the top part of the shaft where the push button switch should be attached in. Lastly,
place the push button to the top of the shaft and attach it inside the shaft.

Melody: For the last part are the wirings, there will be two connections here. The first connection is
from the vacuum motor to a power source which is the 9 volts battery. For the second connection, is
from the 9 volts battery to a push button switch, this push button switch serves as a main switch of the
motor. If the switch was being pushed to the vacuum motor, it is activated; and if the switch was pushed
again, the vacuum motor is deactivated. The wires are now placed inside the shaft or the neck part.

Josh: So now for the evaluation criteria, we researchers will require the following criteria to determine
the product's functionality. The product should be well-designed. It should work functionally. It should
be constructed with materials found in the locality. In terms of effectiveness, it should be comfortable
enough and organized to avoid any unnecessary results made by the product. It should also be durable
enough to avoid large amount of damage and to avoid cautions.

Nash: For the testing the product, first the researchers will visit the houses of the chosen respondents.
Then, the researchers will ask permission to the respondents. Next, the researchers will lend the
product Vac-Broom to the respondents for exactly 24 hours. The respondents will be guided by an
instruction manual on how to use the product properly.

Albert: Respondents of the study, the respondents will involve a group of housewives and housemaids.
The total number of respondents will be 10 respondents. The respondents will be selected accordingly
by the researchers.

George:The study will be conducted in whole school year 2019-2020. The actual product will be
constructed in a span of 3-4 months. The study will be conducted in Brgy. Dagum, Fulgencio Subdivision,
Calbayog City since the chosen respondents are located in this area. The testing of the product will be
done in the homes of the respondents.
Josh: In the sampling procedure, the researchers will utilize purposive sampling in which the
respondents will be selected according to their capability and relevance to participate and answer the
survey questionnaires.

Melody: The researchers will utilize a survey questionnaire based on numerical and descriptive scaling
form. The survey questionnaire will be the only instrumentation used by the researchers. (Read the

Albert: Data Gathering Procedure, the chosen respondents will be provided a survey questionnaire
given by the researchers. The respondents will fill the survey questionnaire according to the
respondents’ evaluation when using Vac-Broom for 24 hours. The researchers will gather the data
immediately after the respondents fill the questionnaires.
