FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GRAHAM SCHOOLS THANK VOLUNTEERS, COMMUNITY FOR PASSAGE OF EARNED

INCOME TAX LEVY

LEVY MAINTAINS CURRENT OPERATIONS AND PROVIDES

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMING

Saint Paris, OH, November 7, 2017 – Voters in the Graham Local Schools passed the district’s
proposal for a modest 1 percent earned income tax passed today. The district expressed
appreciation for all that it would mean for the Graham schools.

“We are so appreciative and we will continue to operate in a lean manner,” stated Kirk
Koennecke, superintendent. “It was a tremendous effort and a big ‘thank you’, goes out to all of
our supporters and volunteers, including parents, teachers and staff. They believe in Graham
and in our students and were willing to do what it takes with this effort.”

Passage of the levy means that the district can maintain our current operations and that we can
provide teachers and students with what they need in the classroom so that Graham students
do not fall behind. The levy will provide resources like up-to-date technology, classrooms,
textbooks and lab materials along with additional science, technology and academic programs.

“Our district made deep cuts in 2012 and we were never able to fully recover,” stated
Koennecke. “Now, we can begin to look forward, to implement the community’s Graham 2020
plan and to provide our students a more competitive education.”

The levy will generate approximately $2.1 million annually for the district over five years,
beginning January 1, 2018.
