Indian Hill, Cincinnati, OH 2018-2019

The Indian Hill Exempted Village School District, Cincinnati, Ohio, Board of Education has developed the following desired
characteristics for the Superintendent

* Is a seasoned administrator with a proven track record of fiscally and organizationally managing a school district; a successful
educational leader with the ability to develop leadership in others.

* Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to establish and achieve personal and organizational goals. Committed to academic
excellence and understands their primary responsibility is providing a quality education for all students. Ability to recruit and develop
professional talent.

* A team player who can develop positive collaborative relationships. A strong leader who has the ability to take charge while working
within the policies and directives of the district.

* A people person who respects the opinions of others, is accessible to all stakeholders, is a positive role model who leads by example,
and is active and visible in the school and community.

Please describe your strengths and abilities as it relates to the above listed criteria.
I have over 24 years’ experience in a wide array of roles, with a proven record of innovation, school improvement, organizational
management skills, and fiscal attention to detail. I have spent much time working on instructional and leadership development
throughout my career in diverse school settings. I am most proud of the other leaders I have developed in this time, all of whom are now
successful educational leaders in their own rights. I am a certified human resources leader, as well as a certified leadership trainer.
I believe in being a strong listener, respecting the work and opinions of others, and reaching out to learn those divers perspectives that
might make us better in our work with children. It’s important to model the way, engage others, and ultimately inspire and motivate our
community to support our vision. This requires activity, visibility, and energy that is intentional, routine, and consistent, which I am
known for.
I believe I possess the ability to help a team establish goals with shared vision and values. I hold myself and others accountable and
discuss measuring our accountability to the team with norms we practice, and leadership behaviors we expect, that help us achieve
academic excellence and equity for children. I make student-centered decisions first. Teams that work hard and play hard together
ultimately achieve more. I try to cultivate this climate.
I enjoy working with others, and work hard to develop positive relationships. I delegate and develop trust in others, and help them shine.
At the same time, I have no problems making decisions for proactive guidance in our system. I have been, and always will be, motived to
outwork those around me to help children be successful in their chosen futures.
* Do you hold a Superintendent Certification for the state represented by the position to Yes
which you are applying?
(If you have questions regarding the requirements to be a superintendent in the state, contact the Department of Education.)

Indian Hill Exempted Village Board of Education Members

RE: Superintendent Position

To Whom It May Concern:

Please accept this letter as proof of my sincere interest in your posted position. I would welcome
the opportunity to compete for this role. The opportunity to impact learners in the Indian Hill EVSD is
especially attractive to me at this time. I seek to broaden my leadership experiences with a new challenge,
and appreciate the history and culture of the Cincinnati region. I have close family and friends in the area,
and have spent much time there. The supportive and diverse community and the quality schools are
highly attractive to my family. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I would welcome the opportunity to share my diverse background qualifications, which includes 15 years
of successful administrative experience in both urban and rural settings, with 24 years of progressive
leadership roles in several excellent school districts, two universities, and area businesses. I have been
fortunate to work with, and learn from, some of our nations’ best educators and leaders in that time.

The opportunity to positively impact the students of Indian Hill would be an honor. I believe my
experiences in leadership development, strategic design, curriculum and instruction, community
outreach, human resources and negotiations have prepared me for this role.

This community deserves to continue its long tradition of excellence and leadership in academics, fine
arts, and athletics. I would welcome the opportunity to learn from, and work with, some of the finest
educators in the region as we realize a shared vision for the future of our schools.

Please see my resume and additional attachments. I can provide additional information and area
references should you request it. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Kirk Koennecke
