and our Industry Partner Mentors Jeff Helman- Rosewood Machine and Tool, Seve Brandyberry-
Johnson Welded Products, and Ethan Hess/Hayden Gephart - KTH.
● Thanks to the multiple staff members who presented at Crowdstruction 2019. It was a fantastic day of
professional development.
● The MS was nominated for an innovation/engagement award by a school who visited this past year.
They were recognized at the Ohio Middle Level Educators State Conference. This is an award that
recognizes the many great things that the GMS staff does on a daily basis.
● Some former GLS Teachers (Tracy Merica - ESC and Danielle Wall - Urbana University) were able to
share their knowledge during sessions at Crowdstruction. Thank you!
● Thanks to the community for approving the renewal levy.
● Congratulations to the newly elected board members who will be joining the board in January.

MIDDLE SCHOOL:
● Congratulations to our Middle School Design Teams. GMS had a 7th grade team and an 8th grade team
this year that competed in the Champaign Economic Partnership Engineering Design Challenge. Our
8th grade team of Aiden Ford, Cora McWhinney, Audrey Larmee, Elijah Melms, and Ganon Ison won
the local level competition on October 30th through preliminary judging. The team then went on to
the county finals at Urbana University on Friday, November 1st and placed 3rd overall. The teams
were facilitated by teacher volunteer Katie Setty.
● Thank you to Doug and Steve! Our maintenance department is always willing to go along with our
crazy ideas and they are happy to help with establishing our new outdoor spaces at the drop of a hat!
● Urbana University Softball and Acro Tumbling teams worked with GMS Counselor Melissa Erter to send
cohorts over to school during lunch and study hall periods. Here they discussed collegiate athletics, life
after HS, offered to help with student work, and lent an ear for those that just wanted to talk.
● Thank you Michelle McGuire for continued flexibility in her classroom environment as she works to
provide the best learning environments for her students in a difficult cross-categorical unit. Also,
Michelle continually shares her knowledge as it relates to IEP writing, appropriate goals, progress
reports, and extended standards so our special education staff can service all students through
collaboration.
● Thank you Dan Weinert for working the Falcon Farms specialty crop plot between GES and GMS at the
end of harvest 2019. Crops didn't take well this year due to barriers common to the area but we
appreciate him reaching out to volunteer and till it up.
● Thank you Lisa Bowman and Miriam Helman for the extra time they put in working with our Lego
League competition team students. We will once again be hosting a regional qualifier this year,
scheduled for December 14th and we will be looking for volunteer judges for projects and robotics.
● Thank you to our community for supporting the renewal levy. Thank you to our outgoing board
