V BOARD RECOGNITION:

SUPERINTENDENT:
● Congratulations to the students and staff of Graham Local Schools for a successful beginning to the
2019-20 school year.
● Congratulations to Principal Nick Guidera and the Graham Middle School Staff for achieving a 2019
Ohio Middle Level Regional Award from the Ohio Middle Level Association.
● Thanks to the entire Graham Local Staff and student body for their efforts evidenced by continuous
improvement on the Ohio School Report Card published Sep. 12.
● Congratulations to GHS Senior Alexis Lewis who has been appointed as the Student Body
Representative to the Graham Board of Education for the 2019-20 school year.

HIGH SCHOOL:
● Thank you to a great first week!
● Thank you to Vinnie, Mindy and Jon for working through schedules.
● Thank you to Carrie Draper for working through all tech items behind the scenes!
● Thank you to Matt Curtis for presence throughout the building.
● Thank you to the cafeteria staff for the great start and lunches!
● Thank you Sandra Wolfkill for your help with managing study halls!

TEACHING & LEARNING:


● Thanks to Becky McNutt for all of her hard work to start the year with student uploads and testing
support.
● Thanks to Carrie Draper for her tech support and for helping to integrate Clever for roster
management and student logins.
● Thanks to the staff at all three buildings for their flexibility and patience as we work through upload
issues and the transitions at the District Support Center.

MIDDLE SCHOOL:
● The GMS Student PBIS Committee has started the year with a bang! Students plan with Mrs. Trenor
multiple times a week to be more intentional in our PBIS initiatives from delivery of content to
celebrating students and staff. We hope to have them present at a future Board Meeting.
● Thank you to Ms. Sowders for her service to GMS the past few years. Our staff will miss her smiling
face and positivity on a daily basis. We are excited to welcome Holly Neves into the office. Holly has
subbed in the office many times and is familiar with our staff and students. Holly and Christy worked
for multiple days to transition the position to set up GMS for continued success.
● Thank you to our staff for a great start to the school year. Even with so much change over the summer,
they stepped up to the plate and are knocking it out thus far.
● Thank you to our volleyball coaches for being a positive influence for our ladies. These student athletes
have leaders who are modeling the way!
● Thank you Tina Jenkins for her 18 years of service to the Graham District. Tina has the opportunity to
move closer to grandkids and will be an asset to Kenton Schools.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:
● Thank you to all of our staff for helping to get our new Kindergarten students through assessments and
ready for the 1st day of school.
● The First Graham Elementary School Back to School Bash was a huge success - thanks for all of the
community partners, staff, families and students who were in attendance.
● Thank you to the Lion’s Club for providing vision screening during the Back To School Bash
● Thank you to the Graham Elementary PTO for supporting the Back to School Bash by providing meals
to the families at a low cost.
● The Graham Elementary Staff Falcons of the Month are - Rob Blosser, Sarah Lonsinger, Kim Myers and
Chelsea Warner - they were selected by their peers.
● Thanks for the entire Elementary Staff and Students we began the year with the Leader in Me First 8
Days and finished with a student-led pep assembly.
● Thanks for our staff for a wonderful start to the school year - it’s definitely a team effort!

ATHLETICS:
● Boys Golf - The Graham Boys golf team is off to another great start in conference play. They won the
preseason CBC tournament and thus far with two matches to play are undefeated in conference play.
Their postseason tournament is next Thursday September 19th at Liberty Hills Golf Course.
● Girls Golf - The Graham Girls golf team has been off to a solid start this season averaging a 234 team
score which is 26 strokes better than their average last year. The CBC Postseason tournament for the
Girls is next Wednesday September 18 at Mill Creek Golf Course.
● Cross Country - The Graham Cross Country Team has been competing for the past few weeks at the
Bob Schul Invite, Covington Invite and the Troy invite. This weekend Graham will host the 43rd annual
Cross Country Invitational starting at 9am with a fun run and then the HS and MS meet starts at 10am.
● Volleyball - The Graham Volleyball team is off to a 6-4 start with a 2-1 CBC record thus far. They have
been exciting to watch. We have a very young team this year with just one senior. They have a big
conference match with Benjamin Logan Thursday September 12 at Home. They are already at the
halfway mark for their season starting next week.
● Football - The Graham Football team is off to a 1-1 start with and opening loss to county foe West
Liberty Salem 41-0. They bounced back this past Friday night with a 41-31 win over Southeastern HS.
This Friday they face Sidney Lehman at Piqua HS. Our home opener with be Friday September 20th vs.
CBC opponent Kenton Ridge HS.
● Meet the team night September 20th at the football game starting at 6:15. Other important dates this
fall:
Friday October 4th - Benjamin Logan HS (Homecoming Game) 6:15 Ceremony begins
Friday October 25th - Indian Lake HS (Ring of Honor Ceremony) Halftime Ceremony begins
Friday November 1st - Northwestern HS (Senior Night - FB, Cheer, Band)

● Special thanks to Donny Vanhoose and our field paint crew for all they do for us throughout the fall.
● Also, special recognition to Donny Vanhoose for steering the project to add a concrete walkway from
the athletic building to the track. This will be completed over the next week.

A. The treasurer recommends the board to approve the financial reports for August 2019 (Attached)
B. The treasurer recommends the board to approve the Original Annual Appropriations and the
Amended Estimated Revenues for Fiscal Year 2020 as presented.
C. The treasurer recommends the board to approve the Anonymous donation for HS boys basketball in
the amount of $1,129.00

IX ADMINISTRATIVE AGENDA ITEMS A through D:


A. The Superintendent recommends the board to approve the following overnight trip:
1. The Graham Marching Band will be participating at the St. Patrick Parade in Chicago, Illinois with 61
students and 8 chaperones. The trip is on March 13-15, 2019.
2. The A.B. Graham Ohio Hi Point FFA Chapter will be attending the National FFA Convention in
Indianapolis, Indiana with trips to Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago School of Agrisciences
in Chicago, Illinois. The trip will have 20 students and 2 chaperones. The trip is October 29-
November 1, 2019.
B. The Superintendent and Treasurer recommends the board to establish the rate of $25.26 per hour for a
substitute school nurse for the 2019-2020 school year.
C. Approval of bus routes for the 2019-2020 school year.
D. The Superintendent and Treasurer recommend the board to approve the Instructional Literacy Leader
supplemental position and the Memo of Understanding with GEA regarding this position dated
September 13, 2019.
