Raven Stream Elementary

Dear *Student’s name* and family,

Hello and welcome to 4th grade! My name is Ms. Ilkka and I am so excited to be your
teacher and meet you during Raven Stream’s Open House on Thursday, August 20th from 3:00 to
7:00 pm. I am in classroom B210 on the second floor, look for the “ocean” and you’ll find me!
Please bring all your supplies from our classroom school supplies list for 4th grade. I will have
some fun things for you to participate in and do as you enter my room.
I want to get to know you, but I’d also love it if you got to know me! I graduated from
Minnesota State University Moorhead last spring, so you will be my first class. I grew up and
went to school right here in New Prague, same as you, and I am so glad to be able to come back
and teach here! My favorite thing to do in my free time is read; my favorite books include the
Harry Potter series and The Secret of Zoom (which we will be reading this year). I also really
enjoy drinking coffee, so you may or may not see me with a cup every morning 😊. My
classroom has a very special theme, it is the ocean! One of my favorite things to do is be by the
ocean, so I have tried to recreate that here in our very classroom.
My goal for us throughout this school year is to build trust with each other and have fun
while learning. I have so many fun and exciting plans for us and I can’t wait to get started! Is
there anything else you’d like to know about me, or would you like to tell me about yourself
before open house? Hand-write me a letter back at this address on the envelope and I will read
your letter and respond. How fun is that!
