ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING THROUGH BUSINESS SIMULATION SOFTWARE IN
MBA COURSE

Business simulation is a virtual business environment which replicates a real time business scenario.
Business simulation software is used to induct analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
amongst students. Through this pedagogical tool students get exposed to real time business scenarios. An
attempt was made to use simulation software as a pedagogical tool in Strategic Management, a capstone
course for the final year students of MBA. This paper makes an attempt to assess the impact of using
business simulation software as pedagogical tool.

Proposed Research Objectives:

 To assess the student learning through business simulation software


 To identify skills acquired by students through business simulation software and
 To analyze the student perception of using business simulation software as a pedagogical tool

The data will be collected through a survey amongst students who underwent business simulation exercise.
An instrument will be developed to measure the learning outcome of students through business simulation.
The business simulation was conducted for the fourth semester students at M P Birla Institute of
Management. The total class size was 178 divided in three sections. Appropriate sample size will be
identified to collect the data.

Expected outcome of the paper:

The proposed paper makes an attempt to assess the impact of using business simulation software on
students’ acquiring skills of problem solving, decision making and analysis.
