1. SCOPE & OBJECTIVES

The scope of this Method Statement is to cover the proposed renovation projects which are all
located in the academic buildings on the main University campus as well as student housing for carrying
out Electrical Works.
The purpose of this documents is to establish systematic procedures for supply and installation of new
DB, UPS System, new wiring and conduiting for light points, new light fixture, and to ensure that it is done
as per the approved shop drawings, project specifications, contract requirement and to make all the
people understand the sequence of works, their responsibilities and safety procedures to be followed
while execution of the work.

3. ACCESS / EGRESS

Access and egress will be coordinated to the Client to determine the main route for all construction
vehicle movement and worker’s access.

DI will have to obtain work permit / approval from American University Project Department . Facilities for
temporary power shutdown requirement prior to start site execution.

4. LOGISTICS

5. HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARDS

5.1 Risk and Control:


 Machine tools and equipment shall be inspected and tagged by competent inspector prior to use.

 All person entering the site shall wear appropriate PPE.

7. RESPONSIBILITIES

DESIGN INFINITY (DI)


DESIGN INFINITY shall carry out coordination and interfacing with Client for supply and installation of new
DB, UPS System, new wiring and conduiting for light points, new light fixture in accordance with the
specification and design requirements.

PROJECT MANAGER (PM)


Project Manager shall be responsible for the overall design integrity, approval, resorting and meeting
program milestone while maintaining high quality finishes as required by the contract. He also programs all
the installation aspect and ensures that the product is installed as per the specification and complies with
both manufacturer and main contractor’s requirements, in line with DI set of policies and agreed
procedures. In addition, he too is responsible for the labor allocation, etc.

PROJECT COORDINATOR (PC)


The Project Coordinator is an intergral member of the project team responsible for directing and
controlling project activities, under the direction of Project Manager and Project Director.

MEP ENGINEER (MEP) / ELECTRIAL ENGINEER (EE)


The MEP / Electrical Engineer in coordination with the QA/QC Manager are the mainly responsible for the
overall operations of this Method Statement and its revision when deemed necessary and to delegate the
responsibility to the nominated Foreman’s to directly supervise the work at the site and QAQC Manager for
monitoring the quality.

FOREMAN (FO)
Foreman is responsible on ensuring that relevant workers are executing the works in accordance with this
Method Statement, Specification, and approved shop drawings.

QA/QC MANAGER (QCM)


The QA/QC Manager will be part of all quality inspections, testing and control. The QCM will monitor,
inspect, and properly document the works in accordance with the approved shop drawing, project
specifications, and Manufacturer Standard.

HSE OFFICER (HO)


HSE Officer will monitor and implement the HSE procedures and ensure the site activities are carried out
with the necessary HSE measures. HO will also establish and implement the Risk Assessments and the
environment aspect/impact measures.

8. PROCEDURE / METHOD TO BE EMPLOYED

8.1- Library (LIB)


 Shut-down power supply at Library
 Removing and re-fix the Existing Fixtures inaccordance with ceiling tile removal
 Switchon the power supply
8.2 - Int'l Exchange Office Modifications (IXO)
 Shut-down power supply for IXO
 Removal of all existing Cables an wiring
 Laying of new Trunking,Pipes and Pulling of cables as per new design
 Conduiting for IT and Security items
 Replace existing five lights with AUS standards 600x600 LED lights and install two more
 Existing two circular lights to be removed and handover to AUS. Supply and install new LED lights.
 Switchon the power supply
8.3- Student Center (SAC)
 Shut-down power supply for SAC
 Laying of new Piping and cabling from existing sockets with connectors.
 Installation of new sockets
 Switchon the power supply
8.4- Library Testing Center (ESO)
 Shut-down power supply for ESO
 Removal of all existing Cables an wiring in Main Testing hall,small testing hall and Computer testing hall
 Laying of new Trunking,Pipes and Pulling of cables as per new design
 Pulling of new armoured cable from LV room SMDB to new SMDB in LV Room
 Pulling of new armoured cable from new SMDB in UPS
 Pulling of new armoured cable from UPS SMDB to UPS DB-1 & UPS DB-2
 Installation of UPS.
 Installation of FloorBoxes,Switches and Sockets
 Installation of new light fixtures with proper connections
 Switchon the power supply
8.3- CAAD Metal Lab and Casting Lab Modifications (CAAD)
 Shut-down power supply for SAC
 Removal of all existing Cables an wiring in Main Testing hall,small testing hall and Computer testing hall
 Laying of new Trunking,Pipes and Pulling of cables as per new design
 Installation of new DB in Casting Lab including new armoured cable
 Installation of new light fixtures with proper connections
 Switchon the power supply

9. TRAININGS

Before proceeding with construction, safety induction and adequate training will be provided to all DI
construction team about the methodology and the risk involved, under the supervision of Safety
Department.

10. WORKING HOURS

Regular working hours will be from 8am to 5pm. Client will be notified whenever overtime work is
deemed necessary.

11. HOUSEKEEPING

Working area should be clean, all waste materials properly collected; chemicals and cans must be
properly disposed only in designated disposal areas which are approved and in compliance with
regulatory requirements.

12. MANPOWER REQUIREMENTS

DI maintains a group of individuals who has expertise to interior fit out works. Key personnel responsible
for the project are provided in project organizational chart. Personnel qualification and career profile is
provided in their CV while brief description of responsibilities towards the project is detailed in Section
7.

13. MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

15. Q.C. APPROVAL AND OTHER DOCUMENTARY REQUIREMENTS

 Material Inspection (MIR) shall be raised for each delivery of materials at site to ensure QA compliance.
 Approved Materials are to be properly protected in its temporary storage at site while waiting for its use.
 All setting out for gypsum partition activities will be undertaken by skilled operatives and checked by DI
Site Engineer prior to QA/QC inspection.

 The labour to be assignged in these works will be adequately trained by DI to enable them to carryout the
work safely and as per standard procedure.
 Internal Inspections, Client Inspections and/ or Third party Inspections (where required) will comply to
approved Inspection and Test Plan.

Communicate this method statement to all relevant parties (via toolbox talk) and ensure it is signed by all
personnel.
