Pipes or fittings fully inserted between two clamping blocks prior to welding process.
Press the start button on the control box and check the required temperature setting to be
adjusted. The Temperature range from 150 degree to 300 degree Celsius.
During welding process, the pipes shall be pressed together and welding to be formed.
Weld fit setting and jointing time shall be 20minutes takes place for each joint.
Butt joint welding done successfully and clamps to be opened after the welding work.
Upon completion of welding work and rise inspection for Engineer’s approval.
Below sequence to be followed for pipe jointing for Gravity Drain Pipes.
Below sequence to be followed for pipe jointing for Pressurized drain pipes.
On completion of each pipe section, check and adjust if necessary to ensure the proper level
and alignment of pipe.
After completion of a section of pipework install temporary caps to any open ends before
leaving the worksite.
Attach and fix the identification labels, safety, and warning signs at the locations as mentioned
in the approved material submittal and as required by the standards and specifications.
After the complete installation of waste, soil and rainwater above ground piping system, a
preliminary inspection of the whole system will be conducted.
A final inspection for installation will be done in coordination with the Consultant prior to
starting the gravity test.
Above ground drainage pipes shall be tested by plugging the end of the pipe and filling the
water to a minimum of 3.0meter column head to keep.
The segment or portion of pipe work to be tested shall be slowly filled from the possible
lowest point with clean domestic water and air is released at all high points in the system until
the system is completely full.
During each phase of installation, carry our interim leakage tests using water head, to ensure
and prove the firmness and leak free of joints.
All openings of pipes should be closed with expansion test plug.
High level end of the pipe is connected to a 90-degree elbow and is connected to a piece of
pipe, in order to get a minimum column head of 3.0 meter of water from the low-level point.
The vertical pipe should be supported then start filling the water into the pipe through water
hose.
Fill water carefully to minimize the air bubbles trapped in the line then open, small opening in
the expansion test plugs such that all air trapped in the line should washed out. Again, fill
water up to the required level of 3.0-meter column head and keep this pressure head for 4
hours.
All joints should be visually inspected for any leakage during the test and any leakage if found,
shall be rectified and test repeated until there is no loss of water in the stand pipe.
After 4 hours, if there is no decrease in level is observed, then the system will be considered
tested successfully. In case of any decrease in level, find out the leak in joints and re-do the
test.
Systems may be tested as a whole or in sections to facilitate the progress of the work.
The piping system to be tested shall be closed by plugging and blanking all openings in the
system in an approved manner and filled slowly with water and air bubbles to be released.
Plugs shall be released temporarily to ensure that water has reached all parts of the system.
Pressure shall be applied to the system by means of a hand pump with a water container. The
pump discharge shall be connected to the system through Isolation Valve and recently
calibrated pressure gauge to be used during pressure testing.
After the test pressure is reached, the pump shall be blocked off by closing the Isolation Valve
and the variations of pressure in the system monitored on the pressure gauge.
The test pressure shall be maintained on the system for a min of 4 hours during which time the
system shall have no noticeable drop in pressure.
While the system is under pressure, a careful inspection shall be made of all pipes and joints
and if any leaks in joints or evidence of defective pipe or fitting is disclosed the defective work
shall be corrected immediately by replacing defective parts with new joints and materials. No
makeshift repairs or application of any repair compound will be permitted.
After the correction is made the pressure test shall be repeated until a completely tight system
is ensured.
The test pressure shall be released slowly so as not to produce shocks and sudden contractions
that might damage the piping.
System test pressure to be monitored for 4 hours.
All pipe network shall be tested to at least 1.5 times the system working pressure.
No part of any piping system shall be tested to pressure less than the specified test pressure
measured at the highest point of the system.
