Personality Profile on Carla Parish Ward


Catonsville, Md- Carla Parish Ward, the coordinator of the Success Center has been apart of this
department going on 13 years, with a degree in Higher Education Administration Ms. Ward has
dedicated her whole career to helping students whether it be through CCBC, DEAM, or the Trio
SSS Program she has made a true impact in the academic world.

She has big an educational leader with experience in several different skills like event/program
planning, student leadership development, admissions counseling, residence life academic
advising, and learning support. Not only does she have a Masters in Higher Education from the
University of Arkansas at Fayetteville she also received Bachelor of Science degree for Business
Administration.

She chooses this career path because “It has always been a passion for me, helping students the
way I was helped when I was younger and by being a first-generation college student made me
understand the challenges of college.” Knowing what her passion was from a young age allowed
her to make a difference and help students

The goal that she is aiming to achieve at the Student Success center is “not only being able to
have diverse and trained tutors that are professional within their expertise, but have a personality
that is inviting and welcoming to the student.” Making students feel comfortable enough to work
with tutor is the main priority

One interesting factor was that she received a certification from the University of Missouri for
Supplemental Instruction which is also offered at the Student Success Center.

The one thing that she expects to improve in the future is technology “In order for us to grow we
have to keep paste with what types of new technology we can provide and making sure our staff
is trained on how to use certain resources.
Her work throughout the years show her dedication and commitment to her job and how
important it is for her to keep these programs in Higher Education thriving and continuing.
