ABSTRACT

Police state is a term denoting a government that exercises power arbitrarily through
the power of police force . The inhabitants of a police state may experience restrictions
on their mobility , or on their freedom to express or communicate political or other views
, which are subject to police monitoring or enforcement.

The Welfare state is a form of government in which the state protects and promotes the
economic and social well-being of the citizens, based upon the principles of equal
opportunity, equitable distribution of wealth, and public responsibility for citizens unable to
avail themselves of the minimal provisions for good life.

A state which is only concerned about maintenance of law and order they aren’t really
worried about the condition of the lives of people. E.g.: British Raj in India …. And
when the state is elected through democratic means such as elections it becomes a
Democratic Welfare state .
