ESSENTIALS OF COUNSELLING PROCESS INCLUDES;

 Relationship
 Building rapport is the key for close and harmonious relationship
between people. Because when you have a rapport with someone,
you share; mutual attentiveness, positivity, and coordination. The
counsellor makes the counselee feel at ease.
 Atmosphere
 The counsellor should establish rapport. He creates an atmosphere
of acceptance and freedom and a willingness to help by showing of
understanding to the problem of the counselee.
 Facilitation of counselee’s effort
 Facilitate not dictate, of course with the proper atmosphere, the
counselee will feel free to talk, to confess all his/her problems
without fear, or without the feeling of hiding some part of the he/she
facing.
 Attention to the life’s adjustment
 The counsellor himself whatever the problem of the counselee
facing, the counsellor must relate to the counselee. The counsellor
can channel skilfully to the kind of life of the counselee, and after
that counsellor will give the treatment.
 Follow up
 Problems can recur, and new problems are apt to appear. By using
words of encouragement and support orally or by letters the
counselee may be motivated. In return, the counsellor helps the
individual gain insight to enable him to cope with life’s situations
almost unassisted.
 “A boy goes to you asking for advice. He has been suspended for drinking
and smoking. He tells you he is known as a hermaphrodite and he smoke and
drink to prove to his friends that he is a man.”

My Reflection:

The first step that I am going to do is to observe the boy, the way he talk,
and the way he move. After listening his confession, at the same time, I will give
my advice. That drinking and smoking inside the school premises just to prove to
your friends, is not actually a good idea. Hermaphrodite condition is a normal
condition, he must be proud of himself because all of his friends he is the only
one who have that condition, he is especial.

If his friends bully him just because he is having that kind of condition then,
keep away from them. Next time if he is finding new friends, choose those
persons who can understand your situation.
