Cyclonic Desander

Sand and solids handling for all applications

Applications The cyclonic desander is a wellhead desander
■■ Post-frac flowback designed to remove solid particles from
■■ Shale gas completions hydrocarbon and water effluent during either
the early life of a well (well cleanup) or its
■■ Proppant removal
producing life (recovery of formation sand).
■■ Well head desanding The desander is also specifically designed
■■ Well cleanup and startup operations for flowback of effluent containing proppant
■■ Well intervention following a fracture treatment.
■■ Well stimulation The unit is positioned as close as possible to
the wellhead (upstream of the choke manifold)
Benefits
to intercept solids from high-velocity effluent
■■ Efficient cleanup operations with
streams before severe erosion occurs. During
advanced desanding capabilities
operation, the entire well stream is fed into
■■ Enhanced safety due to full wellhead the desander vessel, where separation takes

■■ Upstream solids removal can be isolated, depressurized, and flushed.
■■ Cyclonic separation of solids from effluent During this purging process, the desander can
■■ Protection of chokes, flowlines, be left online with solids collected in the holding
and manifolds from erosion space beneath the insert in the desander vessel.
These solids pass to the accumulator once it

debris, and other contaminants
■■ Continuous operations Performance depends on effluent conditions
■■ Dual block and bleed isolation valves such as particle size distribution, effluent-to-
particle density contrast, effluent viscosity,
■■ Accumulator to collect captured solids
and inlet velocity. However, field results have
shown the device to be extremely durable
under a wide variety of operating conditions.
