Peer Lesson Plan #1

Objective: ​Student will be able to attain all the pitches/know the fingerings for the first
five pitches of the Bb Major scale, with good intonation and tone, on horn.

Procedure:
1. Student and teacher warm up with breathing exercise: in for four, out for four with
hand cutting inhalations and acting as a target for exhales.
2. Teacher has student take out horn mouthpiece and practice setting embouchure
with mouthpiece (60/40)
3. Teacher plays a Bb on the piano, has student buzz a Bb, continues with next four
pitches
4. Teacher reviews fingering for concert Bb, C, D, E, F on horn, has student finger it
along
5. Student plays through first half of the scale at a steady tempo, up and down,
repeats as necessary with feedback
a. Recommendations on air flow, relaxing embouchure, etc.

Assessment (Informal)
1. Student plays through first five pitches up and down, while teacher takes notes
on overall tone and intonation/ ability to reach pitches/ knowledge of fingering
