1 Introduction
This writing explains the work carried out during my Student Work Experience program

(SWEP). The report gives details of the design, materials and methods applied in the

construction of a stool.

2 Construction of a stool

2.1 Materials

Stool was constructed using the following materials:

 Square tube
 Wood
 Foam

2.2 Tools

The tools used are:

1) Hacksaw
2) File
3) Bench vice

The hand tools used for various operations are shown in Table 1

Filling sharp edges the steel frame is necessary for safety reasons (Adamu 2018)

Steel tubes can also be cut using the power hacksaw shown in Figure 1.

Marking out was carried out using the Scriber shown in Figure 2.

The practical was a carried out at the main workshop, department of mechanical engineering.
