CHAPTER 2

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

FBuddies is a locally owned fast food that offers fries and drinks. FBuddies is the

answer to an increasing demand for snack-type fast food. FBuddies will be involved in the

sale of French fries and drinks.

The Company

The company, FBuddies was established in 2018 and was founded by Mr.

Erruellson Escopezo and his friends, namely: Mr. Vince Dela Cruz, Mr. John Carlo

Espinili, Mr. Rendel Guiruela, Ms. Dannah Alyssa Sumagpang, Ms. Faulyn Austria, Ms.

Dylaney Legaspi and Ms. Coleen D’Maunahan. They are young entrepreneurs who

happened to form a small business in order to gain profit. The business started out to

produce flavored fries and drinks, and has a perspective of a growing business over time.

Later on, the company aims to release new products.

Business Opportunity

Several consumers, as food lovers, have high interest and soft spot for French fries.

Who doesn’t love fries anyway? Hence, there would surely be huge number of business

opportunities in this business venture.

6

Target Market

This business, as it is a food venture, is open for all. Variation on age and gender

does not exist.

Research has shown that the reward center of the brain values foods high in both fat and

carbohydrates - such as french fries - more than foods containing only fat or only carbs. A

study of 206 adults, that appeared June 14 in the journal Cell Metabolism, supports the

idea that these kinds of foods hijack our body's inborn signals governing food

consumption. (Alexandra G. DiFeliceantonio, Géraldine Coppin, Lionel Rigoux, Sharmili

Edwin Thanarajah, Alain Dagher, Marc Tittgemeyer, Dana M. Small. Supra-Additive

Effects of Combining Fat and Carbohydrate on Food Reward. Cell Metabolism,

2018; DOI: 10.1016/j.cmet.2018.05.018)

Business Model

FBuddies provides freshly cooked fries and cooled drinks. It is assured that each

batch of fries will be served immediately to refrain from lapses that will downgrade the

quality of our products. The staffs assure the products that we serve to all customers has

guaranteed freshness.

Marketing and Sales Strategy

The company will continue to follow the traditional form of promoting business

through ads, flyers and posters. But for innovative means, another and better way of

promoting the business is through social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) since

almost everyone uses them.

7

Competition

We all know that there are already several established fries business in the

community and in the country. Therefore, tight competition between businesses is present

since our name is new to the market. FBuddies uses this competition as a motivation to

compete for flavor, taste, freshness and price. Consistency and uniqueness is our key.

CHAPTER 3

ENVIRONMENTAL AND INDUSTRY ANALYSIS

Environmental Analysis

FBuddies is in the fast-food business industry. The company has several

competitors since the name is new to the eyes and ears of the people, but are of the same

fast-food category with other old and known names. This business, as it is a food venture,

is open for all. Variation on age and gender of our market does not exist.

There are a few political factors affecting the business, including food laws,

nutrition and health laws, product laws, as well as the suggested retail prices of the

products, since the government sets limits.

Economically speaking, the factors that may affect the business includes the price

control of the products, since the country categorized as third-world and the citizens are

mostly of low and middle class ranges. The company needs to adjust to their capacity in

order to earn righteous profit out of the food being produced.

Social factors are present as well, in terms of lifestyle trends, consumer attitudes,

buying patterns and opinions, since they vary from one person to another. These are

inevitable and cannot be controlled.

The impact of changing technological trends in the industry is still on a lower risk

since the company is in line with technology and related processes.

There would be no problem in the legal sector since the business is assured as a

registered one and do not undergo illegal processes in production and selling.
11

Industrial Analysis

Fast-food business industry is a wide place. Several companies are in it and is a

risk for us new companies to be competing against them. The FBuddies company may be

new to people but the product isn’t. It is common and trending but of course, with a unique

formulation than the other known brands. The company will be capable of handling

competence for its name and products.

ASSESSMENT OF RISKS

Potential Risk

Most business owners spend too much of their time and effort in the opening of

their shops that they fail to retain and to fulfill the quality of the service and product on

the following days. This mistake is fatal to the business enterprise and may cause its deficit.

FBuddies endeavor to combat such a danger to our business by constantly checking the

quality of our food and the service offered by our staff on a daily basis. We will follow our

mission and vision of our business to satisfy the needs of our customers. In this way, we

may not only immediately address problems at hand but also offer solutions to other

entrepreneur who are new to the business.

Internal Risk

Another risk that our establishment prepares for is the lack of organization and

coordination on the part of the staff. This usually arises due to certain competencies and

feelings of mistrust or superiority over others. If unchecked, it may cause rivalries and

even may negatively affect the performance of the whole establishment resulting in poor

service.

External Risk

FBuddies will make a plan for their business that will help them when the natural

disaster occurs such as typhoons, floods, earthquakes etc. We will make sure that these
28

natural disasters will not affect our business and continue to serve and satisfy the needs of

our customer.

Strategies for Presenting/Minimizing Risk

FBuddies will hire competent and able employees to head our Research &

Development and Marketing departments in order to address this need of being up-to-date

with the current trends that are popular in society, so that our marketing strategies will be

aligned with such trends and will catch the attention of the people.

Response to Risk Occurred

FBuddies will assure that trust and coordination is well developed among our staff.

We will engage them in activities that foster their trust and cooperation with each other.

This activity will be held in a weekly basis and attendance will be required for all.
