Introduction
Nowadays, social networking has made an enormous impact on
the lifestyle of individuals around the world. It has already been a huge
contribution to the daily social routine of the people in various types of
activities. People mostly used social networking sites like Facebook,
Twitter, Messanger, Instagram, and so on that used to socialize with
other people. Actually, these social networking sites like Facebook and
Messanger have played a big part to our society in terms of
communication purposes.
Some use these sites in order to communicate to their loved ones
across the country. Other people use it for selling and posting products
in social sites to gain customers. Some also use it as a media for gaining
friends and for engaging in relationships and other these internet sites for
gaming purposes. But what is bothersome today is way students use
these networking sites. Social networking sites is helpful among students
in ways such as communicating about projects and conducting reports
and researches for their tasks in school but despite of the benefits of the
network, some students cross the boundaries of using such sites are what
makes the social networking world hazardous to all people involved in it
specially specially to to students of minor ages. What more harmful is
that it seldom leads to the destruction of the students foundation for their
future which is education.

Statement of the Problem


This study aims to know the impact of social networking that cause the
grade 11 senior high school students in Accountancy and Business
Management (ABM) strand of Mount Carmel School of Maria Aurora
that get addicted to social networking that result to habitual absenteeism,
and poor class performance.

Specifically, answers the following are sought:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:

a. Gender
b. Age

2. What are the social factors that cause the students of Mount
Carmel School of Maria Aurora that get addicted to social
networking that result to habitual absenteeism and poor class
performance in terms of:

a. Attitude towards study

b. Family involvement and concern

c. Peer pressure

Scope and Delimitation


This study focuses on the social factors of networking addiction that
encountered by the grade 11 students of Mount Carmel School of Maria
Aurora. It is only delimited on determining the impact of networking
addiction of the students. This aims to identify the student’s behavior on
networking addiction on their physical, mental and psychological health
that cause a big impact resulting in poor class performance. The
researchers do not intend to include all factors that may affect student’s
poor class performance, but only focused on the impact of social
networking in process of learning.

Significance of the Study

This study seeks to identify the impact of networking addiction that


‘cause the grade 11 students of Mount Carmel School of Maria Aurora
that encounter difficulties in getting addicted to social networking that
affects their academic performances. This study is for the students of the
Mount Carmel School of Maria Aurora that they may read and find out
the good and bad side of this kind of problem in their education and their
future. Moreover, this research or study will provide them enough
information so they can avoid and discipline their attitudes and behavior
from being addicted to social networking sites and so that they can
improve their education.
