Discussion
Example If the points (2, 0), (0, 1), (4, 5) and (0, k) are concyclic, then the
value of k is:

A. 1 B. 14/3

C. 5 D. None of these
Example The centre of a circle passing through the points (0, 0), (1, 0) and
touching the circle x2 + y2 = 9 is

A. B. C. D.
Diameter form
The equation of a circle, when the end-points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) of a
diameter are given is (x - x1) (x - x2) + (y - y1) (y - y2) = 0
Example Line 3x + 7y = 21 meets the axes at A and B. Find the equation of the
circle through O, A, B, where O is origin.
Parametric Equation of a Circle
If the equation of a circle be x2 + y2 = a2, its parametric equations
a.
are x = a cos θ, y = a sin θ
Parametric Equation of a Circle
If the equation of a circle be (x - h)2 + (y - k)2 = a2, its parametric
b.
equations are x = h + a cos θ, y = k + a sin θ, where θ is a parameter.
Example Find the parametric equations of circle x2 + y2 + 6x - 4y – 12 = 0
