BACKGROUND Based on the enrollment from 2013-2014 as presented in BEIS, the survival rate of pupils is
AND 63.81 %. However it gains momentum of 65.49 % from 2014-2015 when the school has
RATIONALE engaged in “BRIGADA ESKWELA” and early enrollment campaign for grade school pupils
among public schools. However, in the succeeding 2015-2016, this has fallen to 63.04%.
Affected in this down trend is the survival rate as contrasted with the completion rate.
It is very alarming since the enrollment continually decreasing. Because of these realities, the
study has to be undertaken to understand the factors of falling cohort / survival rate.
Therefore, the team ESCR (Enhancing Survival and Completion Rate) decided to
conduct and focus primarily on the .03% (7-8) pupils who did not survive/ complete grade 6.
