2- FIRE PUMPS CONTROLLER

A- Must be supplied with at least one reliable source of power FOUND

B- All current carrying components of an electric fire pump controller
must be located 12 inches above the floor, and housed in NEMA2
or higher enclosure. FOUND
C- STARTING METHOD STAR DELTA (Y - Δ)
D- SURGE ARRESTOR: is required for each phase.
This device protects the motor from high voltage surges such as
those caused by lightening. FOUND
E- ISOLATING SWITCH: to ensure power is disconnected from the
controller for servicing. The switch must be interlocked with the
circuit breaker so that the switch cannot be operated while the
circuit breaker is closed. FOUND
F- MOTOR PROTECTION CIRCUIT BREAKER: an externally
operable circuit breaker required for protection of the motor from
instantaneous operation of the fire pump when the isolating switch FOUND
is engaged.
G- LOCKED ROTOR OVER CURRENT PROTECTION: must be
set to trip between 8 and 20 seconds of exposure to a locked rotor
condition (600% the full load amps of the motor) FOUND
H- MOTOR CONTACTORS: rated for the motor horse power FOUND
I- POWER AVAILABLE VISIBLE INDICATOR
J- PHASE REVERSAL VISIBLE INDICATOR: should the phase of the
incoming power reverse, the controller must be capable of indicating
this condition using a pilot lamp on the controller enclosure and
energize alarm contact. FOUND
K- MANUAL START HANDLE: operator to mechanically engage the fire FOUND
pump should the controller failed to automatically start the pump.
L- TESTING MEANS: the controller must have provisions so that FOUND
