CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

When deciding what could be the research for this project the researcher wanted to study

a topic that involved crime and the community. Therefore, the researcher looked into different

methods of crime control within societies and after much reading the researcher discovered that

there were many debates surrounding Closed Circuit Television (CCTV). CCTV is an interesting

topic as it is clear that it has many different uses and functions within communities, it is found all

over the country and is involved in everyday life. However, to what extent it works is debatable.

Therefore, the researcher decided to look at the effectiveness of CCTV in solving crime. The

researcher choose to concentrate at La Trinidad, Benguet. The researcher believed this would

give a clear insight into the opinions of a community. It also meant that with the help of the

respondents the researcher could gain extremely useful information from the people who work

closest to the CCTV.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

1) CCTV- (closed-circuit television) is a TV system in which signals are not publicly

distributed but are monitored, primarily for surveillance and security purposes.

2) CRIME - A crime is an offence that merits community condemnation and punishment,

usually by way of fine or imprisonment. This is different from a civil wrong (a tort),

which is an action against an individual that requires compensation or restitution.


3) PROSECUTION- a proceeding instituted and carried on by due course of law, before a

competent tribunal, for the purpose of determining the guilt or innocence of a person

charged with crime

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The goal of the study is to know how CCTV cameras help to solve different crimes in La

Trinidad Benguet. For the policeman, it helps them to determine who is the suspect and the

victim in a certain crime. Also, CCTV is very beneficial to the community for them to use as an

instrument to understand more further the happenings in the environment. For the municipality

of government in La Trinidad, for them to provide CCTV in the public places which crimes is

very known or common.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The main objective of the research is to know the effectiveness of CCTV in solving crime

in La Trinidad Benguet. This study intends to answer the following question

1 .Are CCTV cameras very effective in solving a crimes in La Trinidad Benguet?

2 .How effective is CCTV in solving a Crime in La Trinidad Benguet ?

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This study focus only in La Trinidad Benguet. Wherein, the CCTV cameras are

installed for the protection of the society in La Trinidad Benguet. Also, installed to use as an

evidence in case of crime. The result of the study is only valid in the locality of La Trinidad

Benguet and cannot be valid to the other place.


CHAPTER II

DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

RESEARCH DESIGN

The researcher use a qualitative method to gather information through questioners to the

different police station in the municipality of La Trinidad Benguet.

LOCALE OF THE STUDY

The study is conducted in La Trinidad, Benguet

DATA GATHERING TOOL

The researcher use a questioner to collect data. The questioners are composed of six

question which are the: 1) Why did you choose CCTV to solve different crimes? 2) What is the

main purpose why CCTV is very effective in solving a crime? 3) How is CCTV camera`s

prevent ourselves from crimes? 4) How does CCTV help the investigators to finish/accomplish

the unsolved case? 5) Why do investigators usually check out the CCTV footage during the

crimes investigation? 6) How do CCTV camera`s support or help to reduce crime?

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The questions indentified were later on sustained formally by the instructor. The

questions were printed out the day before the conduction of the given questioners. Most of the

data gathering was administered on all five respondents in different police station in La Trinidad

Benguet. The respondents were given a privilege/change to answer the questions properly.

Afterward, the researcher gather all the collected information. Therefore, the researcher conclude

the study.
CHAPTER III

RESULTS & DISCUSSION

Most of the respondents agreed that CCTV is effective to use as an evidence of the crime.

For the reason that CCTV will not lie. It also provide the actual footage of what happened during

the crime. CCTV footage being captured can also help identifying the perpetrators during the

commission of crimes. All of the respondents also tells the main purpose why CCTV is effective

in solving a certain crime , which are it can record the exact time or place of the events during a

crime. It can use as a strong evidence in the prosecution of a case. By the help of CCTV the

investigators can finish/accomplish the unsolved crime by reviewing the record footage taken at

the said place of incident and by identification of witnesses we can easily identify the person

involve , victim and etc that can be use in the court. Most of respondents said that investigators

usually check out the CCTV footage during the crime investigation for the reason of

establishing the link between the suspect and the physical evidence collected at the crime scene.

Most of the respondents tells that CCTV support or help to reduce crime because offenders will

think twice to commit an offense infront of a camera. It can be the guide for the persons involved

not to do any crimes again.


CHAPTER IIII

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

The researcher conclude that CCTV is very relevant especially today that crimes is very

known or trends.
