QUIZ BEE IN PHILIPPINE LIT CONTEST GUIDELINES

A. Participants:

The contest is open to select students of San Roque National High School from Grade 7-10.

The quiz bee is individual category in nature.

B. Scope and Coverage:

The quiz bee shall cover general questions on Philippine Literature.

C. Contest Proper:

The contest proper is written in nature and shall be participated in by all registered students.

The contest proper shall be conducted on Monday, November 25 at 1:00 p.m. at the school’s covered
court.

There shall be three (3) rounds: Round 1, Round 2, and Round 3.

There shall be ten (10) questions in Round 1, ten (5) in Round 2, and five (5) in Round 3. Three (3)
questions shall be given in cases of ties. Each question weighs one (1) mark in all three (3) rounds.

A Quiz Master, a Timer, and a Scorer shall be assigned to facilitate the competition.

The answers will be evaluated by the Quiz Bee Committee members and to be verified by the Head of
the Department.

A team composed of the Head of the Department and the Heads of Sections shall evaluate and give
decisions in cases of queries and complaints.

D. Quiz Bee Proper:

Cellular or mobile phones are not allowed during the competition.

The Quiz Master shall read the question while the question itself will be flashed on a screen for the
contestants to see.

All answers must be written on the slate boards provided for each participant. It shall be raised when
the team presses the buzzer or when the allotted time is over. Failure to do so will signal a warning for
the first offense and disqualification for the second.

Any question or query to the correctness of the answers should be raised before the start of the next
question.

F. Declaration of Winners:
The participant that garnered the highest marks shall be declared as the winner.

In cases of ties, three (3) clincher questions will be raised to break the tie. The mechanics for the
Clincher Round will be the same as that of the entire contest.

POEM WRITING CONTEST GUIDELINES

1. Any bona fide student of SRNHS is encouraged to join the contest.

2. The contestants must bring their own black pen and yellow paper.

4. The topic will be announced during the contest.

5. The contestants will not be allowed to write their name, section, or any identifying mark on their
paper.

6. The poem should not exceed 20 lines, but with a minimum of 12 lines. There will be a time limit to be
announced during the contest.

7. Criteria for judging :

Content (relevance to the theme) 30%

Organization (unity of thought) 30%

Style (originality) 20%

Poetic Structure (creativity) 20%

Total 100%

8. There will be three (3) winners for the said contest.

9. All contestants must be registered before the contest proper.

10. Schedule and venue of the contest will be at _____.
