Title of Event: English Festival and Reading Month Culminating Activities 2019

I. Rationale:

DEPED Memorandum No. 193 s. 2016 Declaring Month of November a National


Reading Month. In addition, November is also English Month wherein teachers provide
enjoyable culminating activities to enhance students Macro skills which are reading,
writing, listening, speaking and viewing using the second language .
In this connection, the English Club Advisers and English club Officers come up with
the celebration with different activities related to reading and English Language to be
experience by students in a meaningful way. The Celebration aims to support the k-12
Basic Education Program, and strengthen the DEPED’s Every Child A Reader Program
making Filipino Learner a reader with different activities such as film viewing with subtitle
and understanding a movie review. The activities pertaining to reading Month celebration
will be followed by the English Festival 2019 which is design to deliver important
activities to improve students’ confidence and creativity.

II. General Objectives

To promote the love for reading and to celebrate English Festival 2019 embracing
the diversity of learners and culture through reading and to show support for the
program of the Department of Education (DepEd) for the nationwide celebration of
the 2019 National Reading Month (NRM) this November 2019.

VI. Proceeds

Since learners’ reading skills are important to their success in school as they allow
them to access the breadth of the curriculum and improve their communication and
language skills, the English teachers come up with an idea to provide English Park and
be available to improve communication and reading skills of the students through
imaginative and creative way of intervention and remediation to make reading
comfortable and sociable to all learners.
In addition, the English Park to be stablished will be an English Zone for the student
improve the used of English language as our second language
