ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The internship I had with RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours was a great chance for
learning and professional development. Therefore I consider myself as a lucky individual
as I was provided with an opportunity to be a part of it. I am also grateful for having a
chance to meet worderful people and professionals who led me through this immersion
period.

I am using this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude and special thanks to

our supervisor, Ms. Rina Magallanes who in spite of being busy with her duties, took
time out to guide me when I started my immersion.

I express my deepest thanks to Ms. Eliza Mae Manza, former Ticketing Officer
and Ms. Riane Sinadjan, Travel consultant, for taking part in useful decision & giving
necessary advices and guidance throughout my on- the-job training. Thank you for being
hands-on to us and responding well when we have questions on our tasks.

It is my radiant sentiment to place on record my best regards, deepest sense of

gratitude to all RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours family for their careful and precious guidance
which were extremely valuable for my study both theoretically and practically. I perceive
as this opportunity as a big milestone in my career development. I will strive to use
gained skills and knowledge in the best positive way. More power to the company and

ABSTRACT

INTERNSHIP REPORT IN RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours

Proponent

I carried out my internship at RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours, it is a travel agency
founded by Rina S. Magallanes in November 2015. It offers a variety of services related
to travel like Airline ticketing, Hotel Reservations, 2Go ticketing, Educational tours, Tour
packages etc.

During my internship period, a number of approaches and exposure methods were

used including hands on, through reading relevant materials, and also questions and
answer approaches.

They gave me different tasks like tour packaging and costing, making itinerary,
doing fliers etc. They taught me how to book airline tickets online. Also, they gave me a
task to message different hotels in Boracay, Bohol and Palawan to know their contracted
rates, using their email. I gained knowledge on how travel agency making their rates that
will offer on the clients. It helped me interact with different people and this helped me
acquire information and gain the benefits of customer care.

In conclusion, this was an opportunity to develop and enhance skills and

competencies in my career field which I actually achieved.

INTRODUCTION

Overview of the Industry

RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours is duly licensed travel agency based in Bacoor Cavite. It is
accredited by the Department of Tourism Region IV-A.

Company Profile

 RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours

 History of the Company

RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours is a travel agency founded by Rina Sinadjan-
Magallanes in November 2015. It first started as a sub-business under the banner of Edit
Write Interactive Services (EWIS), a professional services provider catering to global
clients via the world wide web. Its services back then were just add-ons to the already
existing services provided by Edit
Write Interactive Services. Because travel was an industry that is different from the
category that EWIS was currently under, the owner/founder decided to bring the business
to another level. Thus, RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours became a separate business from
EWIS in February 2016. To provide better service to its growing clientele, RSM 5R7
Travel and Tours has partnered with tour operators and hotels both local and abroad, as
well as with airlines and 2GO Travel. RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours is also accredited by
the Departments of Tourism. It was granted its first accreditation in September of 2018.

Now, RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours has partners in almost all of the major destinations in
the Philippines. It also has partner tour operators in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Korea, Japan,
Dubai, and anywhere else in the world.

• To achieve reasonable product rates for all types of clients
• To provide high-quality travel assistance to customers, both local and
international

Generally, it is the objective of RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours to become a go-to travel
assistance provider by people from all walks of life. We aim to become a trusted travel
agent by locals and foreigners who want to visit the various tourist spots in the
Philippines, as well as by Filipinos who want to travel and experience the beauty of the
other parts of the world.

services to people in Cavite and surrounding areas. It also aims to become a leading
travel agency brand in the country by providing practical rates and hassle-free
experiences for the clients.

METHODOLOGY
I started my internship on the 3rd day of June 2019 and ended on the 25th day of June
2019. As a OJT Trainee in RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours my actual schedule is 9am-6pm.
We have lunch break at 12nn and breaktime at 3pm. I leave at my house at 8:30 in the
morning because our office is just near at my home.

They gave us different tasks, on my first day my co-worker taught me how to do fliers
using canva, they can use that when promoting or posting packages on their facebook
page. Using Microsoft Excel , I computed the rates of different hotels, I’ll just add the
commission of our agency and it depends on the type of the room. My duties and
responsibilities are depends on what task they will give to us. I’m always checking our
email so we will know if there are new tour packages from our travel partners and if we
needed new fliers. I’m also doing tour packaging and costing with the help of Ms. Riane.

My immersion in 4 weeks, it’s not that long, however I learned and experienced so many
things along the way and have a wider knowledge in the tourism industry and travel
techonology through acticivities and tasks that assigned to me. My supervisor and the
other employees in my department are the reason why I learned a lot of things. They were
very kind and approachable among the trainees there.

ANALYSIS

SWOT and Problem Identification.

 Student/Intern
From doing my internship, it helped me in identifying my strengths, weaknesses, the
opportunities and threats. It also means that I learned many things. My strength in the
internship is I am really attentive. I am good listener when there’s a task that I need to do,
I really want to learn and do it smoothly. I always double check my work especially when
costing because it is really serious matter on our agency. I am also approachable and
capable to adapt easily with different situation.

My weaknesses during the internship is that I’m having backpain because of sitting in a
whole day. My rest is just when we need to go outside for our lunch and we will return to
our office again. I also experienced getting sleepy, and sometimes I am having panics
when we are encoding rates of hotel because it is really a lot, and tiny to see in computer
so sometimes I get confused but I did my best to finish all of that.

The opportunities that I have gained from this is the hands-on experience in travel
technology. I am glad that I chose to perform in RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours because I am
able to gain more knowledge and build relationship among the employees there. I also
experienced to take the opportunity to message different hotels using my name. I feel like
I am really working there as an employee.

The challenges that I have faced during this internship is the struggle when waiting on
my co-worker to open our office. Since our office is just near to my house, I am always
early and I need to wait for them to come. There are times that they are late but there’s a
7-11 infront of our office so I’m staying there. Also the food around my workplace are
just mcdo and 7-11. So I’m tired eating the same food. On my last day, I also discussed
on our general manager of how I did the costing of hotels, and I feel nervous. I didn’t
experience much challenges since the employees are teaching us well.

 Organization

I observed that the strength of the travel agency, they has a good reputation and earned
many awards, and the clients have trust on the company. The weakness of the travel
agency is they have few travel agents, so the work is full load. The opportunity that they
can gain is to get more client, because they will have travel expo with their travel
partners. The challenges of them is they have many copmpetitors among other travel
agency and sometimes other clients want some discounts.

RECOMMENDATIONS

RSM 5R7 Travel and Tours is a good place to work even though it’s just a small office. I
recommend that they will give us different tasks, not the same task all over again so we
will not be that tired on that work. It’s better if the comfort room have flush and soap.

2. Use 12” font size, except for the NARRATIVE REPORT text (16”), and headings
(14”)
3. Use default space for body text.
4. Use short bond paper.
5. Margins: 1.5” on left side; 1” on the right, top and bottom part.
6. Observe proper citation for texts, graphs, and photos taken from the internet or other
published materials. In citing sources, follow the APA format.
7. For photos, do not put in collage. Photos must be properly captioned.
