CHAPTER 1

Introducing Oneself to Others

Kita semua pasti pernah berada di dalam lingkungan yang belum pernah
kita kenal sebelumnya. contohnya ketika berada di sekolah baru, kelas baru,
lingkungan kompleks atau tetangga yang baru maupun lingkungan kerja yang
baru. Di dalam situasi itu tentunya kita harus bersosialisasi dengan orang lain
yang berada di sekitar kita yang mana belum kita kenal sebelumnya. Pastilah
dalam membuka sebuah relasi atau hubungan dengan orang lain yang belum kita
kenal kita harus memperkenalkan diri sendiri terlebih dahulu agar proses
komunikasi bisa terjalin satu sama lain dan tentunya akan dapat mengenal
orang-orang baru di sekitar kita. Apa yang biasanya kita lakukan jika menemui
orang yang belum pernah kita kenal sebelumnya? Apa yang harusnya kita
ucapkan jika ingin berkenalan dengan orang-orang yang baru di lingkungan
kita? Nah berikut ini ada contoh dari ungkapan-ungkapan perkenalan diri dalam
bahasa inggris.

time by doing nothing. Okay now about me and my
family, I am the first child in my family. I have a little
sister, and she is high school student. My father is a Police which is named

Greetings

Di dalam kehidupan sehari-hari kita tentu sering bertemu dengan


seseorang, untuk itu kita harus belajar menyapa mereka. Dalam bahasa inggris
juga ada istilah kata sapaan yang disebut dengan greeting. Mempelajari kata
sapaan dalam bahasa inggris akan membantu kita dalam bergaul dengan orang-
orang di sekitar kita, karena penggunaannya akan sangat membantu dalam
membuka sebuah percakapan. greeting adalah ungkapan yang digunakan untuk
menyapa seseorang. Situasi dalam greeting terdiri dari dua bagian yaitu formal
dan informal. greeting juga bisa diekspresikan dengan kontak mata, saling
berjabat tangan atau berpelukan. Bentuk dari greeting itu sendiri ditentukan dari
budaya maupun hubungan dari orang-orang tersebut.

Partings / Leave Taking

Jika sebelumnya kita sudah belajar tentang bagaimana cara menyapa


seseorang atau how to greet someone. Maka sekarang kita akan belajar tentang
bagaimana cara berpamitan atau berpisah dengan seseorang dalam bahasa
inggris. Ucapan berpamitan dalam bahasa Inggris disebut juga dengan Leave
Taking. Biasanya jika kita akan berpisah dengan seseorang maka kita akan
mengucapkan good bye, see you later, ataupun see you next time. Nah, dengan
mempelajari leave taking ini akan membantu kita untuk dapat berpamitan
dengan baik dan benar dengan orang-orang di sekitar kita. Berikut adalah contoh
kalimat leave taking beserta bagaimana cara menjawabnya.

Recount Text

Pada kesempatan kali ini kita akan membahas tentang materi Recount
Text, yang mana adalah salah satu genre dari teks bahasa Inggris. Pada materi
ini kita akan membahas pengertian, generic structure dan ciri - ciri dari Recount
Text.
Sangat penting untuk memahami semua seluk beluk dari Recount text
supaya kita dapat mengerti betul dan tidak terjadi kesalah pahaman lagi. baiklah
mari kita langsung saja untuk memulai materi.

Apa itu Recount Text?
Kata 'Recount menurut kamus google sendiri adalah menceritakan.
Jadi Recount text dapat diartikan sebagai 'Text yang menceritakan'

Maka Recount text adalah sebuah teks yang menceritakan kembali


peristiwa atau aktivitas yang terjadi di masa lampau yang pernah di alami
sebelumnya. Kita mungkin pernah mendengar sebelumnya dari guru kita
bahwa Recount Text adalah sebuah cerita pengalaman yang benar - benar
terjadi di dalam kehidupan kita. Nah, tujuan dari Recount text itu sendiri
adalah untuk menghibur atau memberi informasi kepada pembaca.

Generic Structure dari Recount Text


Generic structure atau struktur kebahasaan dari Recount Text ini terbagi
kedalam 3 susunan, yaitu :
 Orientation
Bagian Orientation merupakan bagian pendahuluan atau perkenalan dari
text yang akan dibahas. Karena di dalam Orientation ini menceritakan
siapa saja yang terlibat dalam cerita, apa yang terjadi, di mana tempat
peristiwa terjadi, dan waktu terjadinya peristiwa.
 Events
Bagian Event merupakan inti dari cerita. Pada bagian ini kita
menceritakan semua yang terjadi secara berurutan dari awal sampai
selesai
 Re-orientation
Bagian Re-orientation berisi kesimpulan dari isi cerita, atau bisa juga
merupakan pendapat pribadi dari si pencerita. Re-orientation ini bisa
disebut juga akhir atau penutup dari cerita.

Ciri-Ciri Recount Text


 Memiliki judul yang merangkum teks. Contohnya 'My Vacation to Bali'
maka ceritanya hanya akan menceritakan seluruh liburan saat berada
di bali
 Menceritakan peristiwa yang sudah terjadi di masa lampau. Maka
Recount text selalu menggunakan past tense, contohnya 'Last month, I
went to Bali with my family.

 Semua kejadian yang di ceritakan harus secara berurutan. Jadi, harus
memakai kata sambung seperti 'when', 'later', 'then', 'after', 'before',
dan lain lain.

Vacation To Santolo Beach

When Idul Fitri holiday, after visiting my parents at Pameungpeuk,


Garut, I and my family went to Santolo Beach to refresh our mind after the
long time of work. It's rarely to take a vacation because I'm very busy.
The way to Santolo beach is quite good, and the view is really
beautiful. On our left and right is full of rice fields and many coconut trees
along the way. But when we nearly arrived, there was a long traffic jam so we
hardly to get in into the beach. I guess this was because of the Idul Fitri
holiday, so people want to go to beach too. Then we just take a walk to the
beach because it was not far. Fortunately the weather was not too hot on
that day.
After we arrived, the beach was so crowded. But we still enjoyed the
time by took pictures, swimming, playing sand, and go around the beach by
boat. We stay overnight in the inn that we have rent before.
We got up so early in the morning that we could enjoy sunrise
landscape at the beach. My cousin playing with white sand and I took a
picture of him.
A day at Santolo beach felt so short, we were quite tired for playing a
whole day, but we were very happy.

Ketika libur lebaran, setelah mengunjungi orang tua saya di
Pameungpeuk, Garut, saya dan keluarga saya pergi ke Pantai Santolo untuk
menyegarkan pikiran kita setelah lama bekerja. Ini jarang untuk berlibur
karena saya sangat sibuk.

Jalan ke Pantai Santolo pantai cukup bagus, dan pemandangan benar-
benar indah. Pada kiri dan kanan kami penuh sawah dan pohon kelapa
banyak di sepanjang jalan. Tapi ketika kita hampir tiba, ada kemacetan
panjang sehingga kita hampir tidak bisa masuk ke pantai. Saya kira ini
adalah karena libur lebaran, sehingga orang-orang ingin pergi ke pantai
juga. Akhirnya kita berjalan ke pantai Karena itu tidak jauh. Untungnya
cuaca tidak terlalu panas pada hari itu.
Setelah kami tiba, pantai itu begitu penuh sesak. Tapi kami masih
menikmati waktu dengan mengambil gambar, berenang, bermain pasir, dan
pergi di sekitar pantai dengan perahu. Kami menginap di penginapan yang
kita miliki sewa sebelumnya.
Kami bangun pagi sehingga kita bisa menikmati pemandangan
matahari terbit di pantai. Sepupu saya bermain dengan pasir putih dan saya
mengambil foto dirinya.
Sehari di pantai Santolo rasanya begitu singkat, kami cukup lelah
untuk bermain sepanjang hari, tapi kami sangat senang.

Penjelasan:
 Paragraf pertama adalah Orientation. Pada bagian ini penulis mencoba
mengenalkan siapa saja pelaku dalam cerita, tempat dimana mereka
berada, dan apa yang akan mereka lakukan.
 Paragraf kedua, ketiga, dan keempat adalah Events. Tiga paragraf ini
berisi urutan kejadian yang mereka alami selama berada di pantai
santolo.
 Paragraf keempat berisi Re-orientation. Paragraf ini berisi penutup.
Penulis menuliskan kesimpulan dari perjalanan mereka dan
menjelaskan walaupun mereka lelah tapi mereka merasa senang.

Setelah mempelajari Recount text silahkan memperluas wawasan


kalian dengan mengisi soal latihan di lembar berikutnya.

Visiting My Village

Last month, I and my family went to Banyumas which was located in Central Java,
Indonesia. We drove a car. I enjoyed the journey all day long although it took 2 days to get
there. We were fun, my brother made some jokes all day. My father told us some stories on
the way. My mother slept on the back seat.

My first day in my village, I visited my siblings and friends. We are welcomed by


happiness. When I saw my parents, they cried because they looked so happy to meet up their
families. The next day, I, my brother, my cousin and my nephew went to a popular place in
Purwokerto. It was called “Baturaden”. That was a favorite spot in Purwokerto. We enjoyed
local specialty food as culinary. I was satisfied and so were they. Next, I took a photo with
traditional music musicians.

My brother, my cousin and my nephew enjoy the view with other visitors. They took
a photo with their style like I did. In the evening, we were back home. And did other private
activities, such as made a conversation, told the story and made a joke.

The day after tomorrow, my cousin had a ceremony to say thanks to God for blessing
their son. It was called “Nazar”. When the parents had a promise for something and it was
realized. They had to make a traditional ceremony. I watched that traditional ceremony and
took their photograph.

For the last show, we were entertained by “Ebeg”. It was traditional art. The player
danced through the traditional music and they were handled by the spirit. It was scary, but it
was fun and entertain.

Time run so fast because the next day was our last day in the village. So I took the last
photo to bring it home. They were my family and still family until the last breath in this
world.

Finally, we had to go home and brought a love experience from family. Yaps… that
was the hardest part.

CHAPTER 5

Expressing Happiness

Sebagai manusia kita tentunya memiliki perasaan. Perasaan tersebut bisa


berupa rasa sedih, marah, jengkel, bahagia, galau, kecewa, khawatir dan lain
sebagainya. kita dapat mengungkapkan perasaan tersebut sebagaimana kondisi
yang sedang kita alami. Ada banyak ungkapan perasaan di dalam bahasa
Inggris, salah satunya adalah perasaan bahagia (Expressing Happiness).
Bahagia adalah sebuah emosi yang menunjukkan bahwa kita merasa
senang. Untuk mengungkapkan perasaan bahagia bisa dalam berbagai bentuk.
Contohnya dalam bentuk words (kata-kata), facial expression (mimik muka), dan
gestures (gerak tubuh). Apapun bentuk dari kebahagiaan tersebut yang paling
penting adalah pesan dari ungkapan tersebut.

Ungkapan kepedulian adalah sebuah ungkapan perasaan kasihan dan


kesedihan ketika kita mengetahui dan melihat orang - orang yang tidak
beruntung, mempunyai masalah, atau sedang di dalam kesusahan. Contohnya,
teman kita sedih karena kakekknya sakit. Kita bisa menghiburnya dengan
menunjukkan rasa kepedulian kita. Ungkapan showing care ini berfungsi untuk
menunjukkan rasa kepedulian kita terhadap kondisi orang lain.
Tujuan dari menunjukkan rasa kepedulian adalah untuk memberi
kenyamanan terhadap orang - orang yang mempunyai masalah atau yang
sedang mengalami kesusahan. Itu juga bertujuan untuk memberi tahu orang lain

Narrative Text

Jika sebelumnya kita sudah mempelajari tentang Procedure Text dan


Recount Text, maka sekarang kita akan membahas tentang Narrative Text. Di
dalam postingan ini kita akan membahas seluruh materi dari Narrative text
mulai dari pengertian, generic structure, ciri - ciri, contoh, dan Soal Latihan.
Narrative text adalah pelajaran yang cukup sering kita jumpai di SMP maupun di
SMA. Di dalam pelajaran ini siswa dituntut untuk menceritakan cerita fiktif atau
dongeng. Selain itu mereka juga harus memahami unsur intrinsik, generic
structure, dan juga menganalisa moral value dari cerita. Tanpa basa basi lagi
mari kita langsung saja ke materi.

Apa itu Narrative Text?
Narrative text adalah cerita fiksi atau cerita karangan yang dibuat
untuk menghibur pembaca. Narrative text biasanya kita jumpai dalam
bentuk dongeng, cerita rakyat, maupun cerita fiksional lainnya. Tujuan
Narrative text, seperti yang sudah disebutkan diatas adalah untuk
menghibur pembaca/ pendengar dalam suatu cerita dengan kejadian
berurutan yang mengarah ke dalam suatu klimaks, dan akhirnya menemukan
penyelesaian.

Generic Structure dari Narrative Text


Narrative text mempunyai 3 susunan struktur seperti berikut ini:
1. OrientationBagian Orientation berisi tentang pengenalan tokoh-
tokoh, latar belakang tempat dan waktu dari cerita. (siapa, apa,
kapan, dan dimana)
2. ComplicationPada bagian complication, masalah-masalah mulai
muncul dan harus di selesaikan oleh tokoh utama pada cerita
tersebut.
3. ResolutionResolution adalah dimana cerita berakhir. Pada bagian ini
masalah terselesaikan oleh si tokoh utama. Dalam bagian Resolution
juga biasanya terdapat moral value atau nasihat dari cerita tersebut
atau yang biasa disebut juga dengan Coda.

Penggunaan Grammar dalam Narrative Text


Dalam Narrative text kita harus menggunakan bentuk lampau atau
past, karena cerita ini merupakan cerita karangan atau fiksi. Bentuk tenses
bisa menggunakan past perfect, past continuous, past perfect continuous,
atau bisa saja past future continuous. Semua aturan ini tidak harus dijadikan
sebagai acuan karena tenses itu mengacu kepada kondisi dan situasi
kalimat.

Ciri - Ciri Narrative Text


 Menggunakan Action Verb dalam bentuk Past Tense. Misalnya :
Walked, Said, Wondered, dsb.
 Menggunakan Nouns tertentu sebagai kata ganti orang, hewan dan
benda tertentu dalam cerita. Misalnya : the princess, the girl, the
queen, dsb.
 Menggunakan Adjectives yang membentuk noun phrase. Misalnya :
The red riding hood, the poisoned apple, dsb.
 Menggunakan Time Connectives dan Conjunctions untuk
mengurutkan kejadian-kejadian. Misalnya : before, after, then,
next,soon, dsb.
 Menggunakan Adverbs dan Adverbial Phrase untuk menunjukkan
lokasi kejadian atau peristiwa. Misalnya : on the sea, in the
mountain, there, happily ever after, dsb

woman and her son lived. They were Malin Kundang and her mother. Her
mother was a single parent because Malin Kundang's father had passed away

has become rich and now he is here”. An old woman ran to the beach to
meet the new rich merchant. She was Malin Kundang’s mother.
She wanted to hug him, released her sadness of being lonely after so
long time. Unfortunately, when the mother came, Malin Kundang who was in
front of his well dressed wife and his ship crews denied meeting that old
lonely woman. For three times her mother begged Malin Kundang and for
three times he yelled at her. At last Malin Kundang said to her "Enough, old
woman! I have never had a mother like you, a dirty and ugly woman!" After
that he ordered his crews to set sail. He would leave the old mother again
but in that time she was full of both sadness and angriness. Finally, enraged,
she cursed Malin Kundang that he would turn into a stone if he didn't
apologize. Malin Kundang just laughed and really set sail

Once upon a time their lived a group of mice under a tree in peace. However, a
group of elephants crossing the jungle unknowingly destroyed the homes of all

elephant's king apologized and agreed to take another route. And so the lives of

Sura and Baya

A long time ago, there were two animals, Sura and Baya. Sura was the name of a
shark and Baya was a crocodile. They lived in a sea.

Once Sura and Baya were looking for some food. Suddenly, Baya saw a goat.

"Yummy, this is my lunch," said Baya.

"No way! This is my lunch. You are greedy" said Sura. Then they fought for the
goat. After several hours, they were very tired.

Feeling tired of fighting, they lived in the different places. Sura lived in the
water and Baya lived in the land. The border was the beach, so they would never
fight again.

One day, Sura went to the land and looked for some food in the river. He was
very hungry and there was not much food in the sea. Baya was very angry when

Produce Text

Dalam kehidapan sehari - hari kita pasti pernah membuat sesuatu seperti
memask, atau menyelesaikan suatu hal. Adakalanya kita tidak mengetahui cara
dari membuat atau melakukan hal itu, maka kita akan membutuhkan suatu
proses yang runtut atau yang biasa kita sebut dengan prosedur. Di dalam bahasa
inggris Procedure Text adalah genre dari sebuah tulisan. Procedure text itu
sendiri adalah text yang menunjukan bagaimana cara membuat sesuatu atau
cara melakukan sesuatu dengan berurutan atau step by step. Tujuan dari
Procedure Text adalah memberikan petunjuk tentang cara melakukan sesuatu
melalui tindakan-tindakan atau langkah-langkah yang runtut.

Generic Structure
Procedure text terdiri dari 3 bagian Generic structure yaitu:

1. Aim/Goal
Aim ini merupakan tujuan dari Procedure text. Biasanya berupa
judul atau deskripsi apa yang akan dibuat atau dilakukan.

2. Materials
Bagian ini memuat daftar bahan dan alat untuk menyelesaikan
procedure text tersebut. Namun tidak semua procedure text
membutuhkan material.

Ada tiga jenis Procedure Text yang tidak menggunakan


materials atau alat - alat, yaitu:
 Procedure Text yang menjelaskan bagaimana melakukan suatu
intruksi secara manual atau bagaimana sesuatu dapat bekerja.
Contohnya : How to use the television, the friedge, the phone,
atau the rice cooker,dan lain lain.
 Procedure Text yang menjelaskan peraturan dari bagaimana
melakukan kegiatan-kegiatan tertentu. Contohnya : flight safety
rules, video game rules, dan lain lain.
 Procedure text yang mengajarkan manusia tentang kehidupan
atau yang berhubungan dengan sifat dan kebiasaan manusia.
Contohnya: How to be happy, How to be useful for someone,
how to get a boyfriend, dan lain sebagainya.

3. Steps
Bagian steps berisi serangkaian langkah - langkah yang harus
dilakukan dengan secara berurutan. Steps ini harus dilakukan agar
tujuan yang di utarakan pada bagian Aim/ Goal dapat tercapai.

Ciri - Ciri dari Procedure text


 Menggunakan pola kalimat perintah (Imperative). Contohnya "Cut the
banana into pieces" , "Don't mix the coconut milk with water" , "Heat
the water for 5 minutes", dan lain lain
 Menggunakan action verbs, misalnya crack, chop, cut, heat, mix, dan
seterusnya.
 Menggunakan sequence adverbs seperti first, second, next, then,
finally, while
 Menggunakan adverbials (kata keterangan) untuk menyatakan rinci
waktu, dan tempat misalnya for "Cook the mixture for one hours" ,

"Boil the water for 15 minutes", "Crack the egg into the bowl" , dan lain
sebagainya.
 Menggunakan simple present tense.

HOW TO MAKE FRIED RICE


(Cara membuat nasi goreng)

Ingredients:
 2 cloves of garlic (dua siung bawang putih)
 2 onions (dua bawang merah)
 An egg (sebutir telur)
 1 table spoon of vegetable oil (satu sendok minyak goreng)
 A plate of rice (sepiring nasi)
 Salt (garam)

Steps:
1. First, chop garlic and onions into the small pieces (Pertama tama,
potong-potong kecil bawang putih dan bawang merah)
2. Second, heat vegetable oil on a frying pan. (Kedua, panaskan
minyak goreng di wajan penggorengan)
3. Third, put the chopped garlic and onion into the hot vegetable oil.
Fry them a while. (Ketiga, masukkan potongan bawang merah
dan bawang putih ke dalam minyak panas)
4. Fourth, add an egg into the pan and stir them. (Keempat,
masukkan telur ke wajan dan aduk aduk)
5. Fifth, put one plate of rice. Fry and mix them around 3 minutes.
(Kelima, masukkan sepiring nasi. Goreng dan aduk aduk selama
kurang lebih 3 menit)
6. Sixth, add two pinces of salt. Continue frying until the rice is

Steps:

HOW TO TURN ON AN IPHONE

Descriptive Text

Pada kesempatan kali ini kita akan membahas tentang salah satu genre
dalam teks bahasa inggris yaitu Descriptive Text. Sebelum mendalami materi
tentang Descriptive Text kita harus mengetahui arti dari kata Descriptive itu
sendiri. Dalam bahasa Indonesia, Descriptive berarti Deskripsi. Menurut kamus
besar Bahasa Indonesia, "Deskripsi berarti pemaparan atau penggambaran
dengan kata-kata secara jelas dan terperinci. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa
Descriptive text adalah sebuah teks yang menjelaskan tentang suatu hal.
Misalnya, mendeskripsikan orang orang, binatang atau suatu benda baik
bentuknya, sifat-sifatnya, jumlahnya dan lain-lain. Descriptive text juga
bertujuan untuk menjelaskan, menggambarkan atau mengungkapkan seseorang
atau suatu benda.

Generic Structure dari Descriptive Text
Pada setiap genre teks bahasa inggrismemiliki generic structurenya
sendiri-sendiri, termasuk Descriptive text. Sama dengan yang lainnya,
Descriptive text juga harus ditulis secara berurutan. Jika kamu hendak
menulis sebuah descriptive text maka pastikanlah susunannya seperti ini:

1. Identification
Bagian identification berisi pendahuluan dan gambaran umum
tentang suatu topik. Identification berfungsi sebagai pengenalan dari
apa yang kita sedang jelaskan. supaya para pembaca atau pendengar
tidak salah mengerti. Misalnya yang kita jelaskan adalah kucing,
namun para pembaca/pendengar malah salah mengerti menjadi
anjing,

2. Description
Pada bagian description berisi ciri-ciri khusus atau sifat-sifat
yang terdapat dalam benda, orang, atau binatang yang sedang kamu
jelaskan.

Ciri-Ciri Descriptive Text


Sekarang mari kita simak ciri-ciri yang dimiliki oleh descriptive text supaya
kamu tidak bingung bagaimana untuk memulai menulis descriptive text
yang baik dan benar. Descriptive text memiliki beberapa ciri yaitu:
 Menggunakan Simple Present Tense. Tenses ini digunakan karena
dalam descriptive text kita akan menjelaskan suatu fakta atau
kebenaran yang terdapat dalam suatu hal atau orang.
 Menggunakan banyak kata adjective . Kata adjective digunakan karena
dalam descriptive text kita akan menjelaskan sifat - sifat dari suatu

Jambi Student Allegedly Commits Suicide


After Punishment From School

A 16-year-old schoolgirl committed suicide by hanging herself after


she received a punishment from her school, the police have claimed.
The student of the Agriculture Development Vocational High School
(SMK-PP) in Pemayung district in Batanghari regency, Jambi, was found dead
hanging in her parents' house in Sungai Buluh village in Muara Bulian district,
Batanghari, on Sunday.
Investigation unit head at the Muara Bulian Police, Sec. Insp. Amran,
said the victim had been first found by her parents.
"We are still investigating the motive for the alleged suicide," he said
on Monday.
The girl went to her parents instead of her dormitory on Saturday. She
told her parents that she had been punished by her school, Amran said.
"She said she had been ordered to hoe the school's garden and plant
five different flowers," he said.
Amran added that her parents had said they overheard a telephone
conversation between her and a person believed to be from the school,
asking why she did not return to the dorm.
The reason for her punishment is unknown.

dan menanam lima bunga yang berbeda," katanya.

Feeling no fear, a five-year-old boy spent two days floating at sea on a mattress in a bid to
survive from the effects of the tsunami that killed thousands of people from his town and was
reunited with his family on Thursday.

He cried as he rushed to his parents, older brother and younger sister at a refugee camp in
Meulaboh, his hometown of 40,000 people in Aceh that was one of the hardest hit in

According to Antara news agency, Wira said he held on to various floating pieces of
wood while being swept away.

“I was not afraid because I am used to the sea.” Wira said while massaging his wounded
leg.

“As I was still holding to a door, the mattress came by so I decided to climb on it. I was
not afraid, but I was cold.”

Wira said he spent two days out at sea until he was found by fisherman on the look out
for bodies off coast of Meulaboh. –AFP

Fires rage across four Australian states

MELBOURNE, Jan 22 (UPI) – Fire authorities in four Australian states are to control
bushfires fanned by strong winds and searing temperatures.

The Australian reported Sunday that blazes continued to burn in South Australia,
Tasmania, Western Australia and Victoria, where up to six homes have been destroyed. In
South Australia, much of Adelaide is engulfed in thick smoke. The firefighters who are
confronted by blast-furnace winds try to bring the flames under control.

At Robertstown in the state’s mid-north, more than 2,500 acres have already burned.
Another bushfire, started by lightning, charred the earth near mouth Flat on the southern side
of Kangoroo Island, while Ngarkat Conservation Park, in the state’s upper-southeast, is also a
blaze.

A 7,500-acres fire at mount Agnew inZeehan, in the state’s west, broke containment lines
Saturday afternoon, jumping a road and coming close to homes.

The most serious fires were in Victoria, where up six homes were destroyed by a fire near
the town of Anakie, 36 miles west of Melbourne.

In Tasmania, falling temperatures and patchy rain brought some relief to firefighters, who
continued to monitor 22 blazes across the state.

Tornado Wreaks Havoc in Semarang

Residents assess the damage after a tornado damages 150 houses in the district of Tembalag
in Semarang, Central Java late on Saturday afternoon.

Three people were injured and at least five of the houses in the Sendangguwo and Tandang
neighborhoods were destroyed, while many others were seriously damaged as the tornado
ripped off their roofs. Thoirin aka Jayeng, 40, a resident whose house was leveled at the
Sendang Asri housing complex, said the winds hit about 4 p.m.

“I saw this black wind coming and becoming pointed into a funnel. It suddenly approached
and hit my house,” he said.

Tohirin’s wife, two children and mother-in law were in the kitchen at the time when the
tornado known locally as “Ulur-ulur” passed over their home, destroying the guest and
bedrooms.

“It was as if the wind had lifted my home up,” Thoirin said.

The disaster also destroyed the walls of four neighboring houses.

Many other homes in the area lost their roofs and residents and neighbors had started
rebuilding on Sunday.

Tembalang district head Dayat said the tornado also damaged a small mosque and felled
power lines and about 50 trees. His office was still collecting data on the damage, he said.

Villagers said the tornado was the worst to hit the district in living memory.

Semarang Mayor Sukawi Sutarip and his wife, Sinto Sukawi, visited the scene on Sunday,
accompanied by senior officials.

“We will provide the victims with assistance immediately,” the mayoral spokesman Achyani
said.

Namanya adalah Taufik Hidayat, Lahir


di Kota Jambi, 21 Februari 2004, ia adalah
anak keempat dari lima bersaudara, buah dari
pasangan Joni Patman dan Marinis. Taufik
adalah panggilan akrabnya, ia terlahir di
keluarga yang sangat sederhana, Ayahnya
seorang Guru honorer di sebuah madrasah
tsanawiyah, sedangkan Ibunya bekerja sebagai
guru TK yang tak jauh dari rumahnya. Sejak
kecil dia selalu di nasehati oleh ayahnya untuk
selalu rajin beribadah, jujur dan baik terhadap
sesama.

Ketika berumur 6 tahun, ia memulai


pendidikan di SDN 219, Kota Jambi, kemudian
setelah lulus dia melanjutkan pendidikannya di
MTs Negeri Kenali Besar (sekarang MTs Negeri 5 Kota Jambi) di tahun 2016. Selepas lulus
dari MTs di tahun 2019, sekarang dia melanjutkan pendidikannya di MAN Insan Cendekia
Jambi.

Selain itu ia juga aktif dalam berbagai kegiatan di sekolah, Taufik bergabung dengan
organisasi Pramuka dan Ia bercita-cita menjadi orang sukses dan berguna bagi orang lain.
