stories.
 Clothing and music are integral to most dance performances.

Description Families will check-in at the welcome center at 10:15 a.m. At 10:30, families will
be escorted to room 102. Families will first be introduced to the program
elements and receive a background on dance. Children will prepare to
participate in the freeze dance activity by stretching led by Lydia.

Activities:
OPENING
Freeze Dance Art [5 min.]: Kids and adults will coat feet/booties with paint and
“freeze dance” across a white piece of paper on the floor. Families will be able to
take home this piece of art. Lydia will lead activity; will need someone to
start/stop music.

Zumba with Karisa [15-20 min]: Karisa will lead families in a Zumba dance
routine.

STATIONS
Silhouette [5-10 min]: Kids will stand in front of a black piece of paper and light
source. Adult will trace the outline of the child on the black paper. Families will
then cut out the silhouette together. Families will be able to take home this
silhouette.

Learn to Dance/History [5-10 min]: At a table, four different laptops will be set
up displaying the featured dances: Hula, Polka, Salsa, and Ballet. The laptops will
show videos of the dances along with how-to instructions. Along with this,
children and families will have a notebook featuring the history about the dances
and other facts. Possible polaroid camera space for a child to insert a picture of
them dancing within the notebook.
Family Program: Feel the Rhythm, Feel the Beat

Michael Jackson Glove Design [5-10 min]: Children and families will learn about
Pop/Dance legend Michael Jackson and his signature glove. Then, families will
get the chance to design their own Michael-inspired glove to take home.

Performance Mask Design [5-10]: Performers around the world wear masks to
help tell stories through dance. Families will design masks that they can later
perform and dance in.

Activity Dice [5-10 min]: Dice are provided to families. On table there will be
squares with different actions to glue onto the dice. Actions all pertain to dance
