towards mental aspect of G11 ICT and HE students of LDCU-Main Campus.
In this generation, Most of the people are glued to their smartphones, it is
the reason of why the students are getting late and it is the reason why
Students are sometimes sleepless.
We will conduct our research in Liceo de Cagayan University – Main
campus of Grade 11 TVL- ICT and HE Students, aged 17 to 18 years old,
because according to our observation, Most of the students from TVL-ICT
and HE are the ones who have smartphone devices.

Basic Literature
According to Strickland Amelia (2014), the use of Mobile Phones are
increased and deteriorated our Mental Health, Young Adults are the most
active users of Social media. Theories that are discussed: Sleep
interruption, Social media effects on Romantic relationships. (Kraut et al.,
2002) After a initial year of the internet, researchers discover that the using
social media frequently is the higher possibility of feeling loneliness and
depression. Rosen, and Carrier found some major depressive disorder
which is dysthymia, bipolar-mania, narcissism, antisocial personality
disorder and compulsive behavior. According to Kalpidou etal. (2011) the
students who have a higher number of friends in social media experienced
emotional adjustment in life than those who spent less time on social
media. Social Media and Narcissism: Rosen (2013) discover that people
who use social media activity associated with lover chances of having
depression, but still it cant be counted as a positive effect. Social Media
and anxiety: In this generation, people get worried when they cannot open
their email or social networking sites and this can be found in the younger
generations (Every hour, minutes or all the time). The Impact of Sedentary
Behavior is involving sitting and lying down that symbolizes a low
Metabolic Equivalent Total (Ainsworth et al. 2000). Sedentary behaviors
also linked into physical health risks which is: Increased risk type II
diabetes (Hu et al., 2003), obesity (Cameron et al., 2003), Cardiovascular
disease (Kronenberg et al., 2000), high blood pressure (Jake et al., 2003),
and metabolic syndrome (Ford et al., 2005) are all connected with
sedementary behavior. Displaced Behavioir theory: People who spend
more time on social media rather than face-to-face. Social media's effects
on romantic relationshio: Recently, the researchers discover that facebook
can ruin a romantic relationships due to increased of jealousy, partner
surveillance which can cause to an arguement and uncontrollable internet
use (Kerkhof, 2011; Muise, 2009; Papp, 2012; Tokunaga, 2011; Utz, 2011).
Romantic relationship jealousy leads to real or imagined third-party that
threats the integrity of the relationships (Sharpsteen, 1995). Jealousy
causes romantic relationships on having interest in someone else, having
an interest with the past partner, gaining some attention from an individual
from outside of the relationship (Sheets, 1997).
Motivation for social media to use, Social media is crowd-pleasing,
but why do so many people use it?, Nadkarni and Hofmann (2012) The
main reason why people are motivated to use social media is: A need to be
belong and a need of self-presentation. In their analysis, Toma and
Hancock (2013) discover that social media satisfy the users in need of self
worth and self integrity. A research center discover that the popular
reasons why people are getting addicted to social media is to stay in touch
to their friends, family and specially to those in romatic relationships.
We chose this study because most of young adults suffer from
sleep deprivation because of Social media and Smartphone. Children also
get easily addicted to Social Media like Youtube, because they can easily
watch their favorite cartoons there and some of them believe that what they
see in social media is real.
The objective of this study is to reduce the number of Youth that has
been addicted to Mobile Gaming and Social media, and also to reduce the
risks that comes with it. The purpose of this study is to teach the Youth by
giving them advice for time management on when to use and when to stop
using their gadgets or smart devices, and to also teach them outdoor
activities for their health.
