Introduction
Science-knowledge about or study of the natural world based on facts
learned through experiments and observation.

Fields of Science
 Social Sciences-a particular area of study that relates to human
behavior and society.

 Natural Science-a science(such as physics, chemistry, or biology)

that studies physical and natural world or the events that happen in
nature.

 Physical Science-an area of science that deals with materials that

are not alive and the ways in which nonliving things work.

 Biological Sciences-is the study of life and living organisms, their

life cycles, adaptations and environment.

 Pure Science-a science depending on deductions from demonstrated

truths, such as mathematicians or logic, or studied without regard to
practical applications.

 Applied Science-is the application of existing scientific knowledge to

practical applications, like technology or inventions.

Biology- a science that deals with things that are alive(such as plants and
animals).

John Craig Venter-is an American biotechnologist, biochemist, geneticist,

and businessman. He is known for leading the first draft sequence of the
human genome and assembled the first team to transfect a cell with a
synthetic chromosome.

Christelle Desnue-nominated by Centre de la Recherche Scientifique,

European Rsearch Council(ERC), and AcademiaNet member.

Marseillevirus-a giant virus of amoeba that has been found in the blood
and stool samples of individuals who otherwise appear to be healthy.
Francesco Redi-he is reffered to as the” founder of experimental biology”
and as the “father of modern parasitology”.

John Needham-he was first exposed to natural philosophy while in

seminary school and later published a paper which, while the subject was
mostly about geology, described the mechanics of pollen and won recognition
in the botany community.

Lazzaro Spallanzani-made important contributions to experimental

study of bodily functions, animal reproduction, and animal echolocation.

Louis Pasteur-was a French biologist, microbiologist and chemist

renowned for his discoveries of the principles of vaccination, microbial
fermentation and pasteurization.

Biotechnology-the exploitation of biological processes for industrial and

other purposes, especially the genetic manipulation of microorganisms for the
production of antibiotics, hormones, etc.
