ABSTRACT

This study analyzed the effects of shopping malls emergence to local business

entrepreneurs in Calbayog City with the purpose of helping business entrepreneurs

become well-informed about these effects in terms of their sales, income, price range and

supplies. At the end of the study, the researchers aim to propose a schedule matrix for a

seminar talking about effective marketing strategies in terms of unique selling proposition,

facility renovation, location and Social Media Marketing.

This study employed the descriptive assessment method. The researchers utilized

interview guide questions as the main tool in gathering data. A total of 30 local business

entrepreneurs participated in the study.

Findings revealed that majority of local business entrepreneurs’ capital for the start

of their business is Php.132,033. The average operating years equates to 9 years and 8

months. The average monthly income sums up to Php.59,588. Most of the business

enterprises utilize poor facilities which are not competent enough compared to present

business enterprises existent in shopping malls.

Furthermore, findings revealed that 56% of local business entrepreneurs were not

affected in terms of their income, sales, and price range. Also, the local business

entrepreneurs’ stocks on hand with accordance to the market demand were negatively

affected.

Findings also revealed that the local business entrepreneurs utilized unique selling

propositions helping them in the overall aspect of the business. Moreover, local business

enterprises renovate depending on the availability of cash, materials, and various

situations. 91% are accessible to customers with no plans of moving to another location.
