CALIBRATION ACTION PLAN (CAP)
BOD INCUBATOR

Objective : The objective of the Calibration Procedure is to calibrate the BOD Incubator.

Scope : The scope of Calibration Procedure is applicable for all technical staff of the laboratory.

Responsibility : Chemist

Approved by : Technical Manager

Frequency : Internal – Quarterly, Verification– Daily on use.

Procedure :
1. Set the desired temperature on the BOD incubator panel.

With the help of calibrated thermometer or calibrated thermocouple take minimum 5 reading

(one from each corner & one at center) on set temperature.

Standard deviation (Type – A Uncertainty ) from these readings will be calculated by the

following formula :
SD =√[ (x-y)2/(n-1)]
Where, SD = Standard Deviation
X = Each individual value used to calculate mean
Y = Mean of n values
n = Total no. of values

Type – B uncertainty will be taken from the calibration certificate of the thermometer or

thermocouple.

5. Combined uncertainty will be calculated by the following formula :

Combined uncertainty = √(Type - A) 2 + (Type - B) 2

Expanded uncertainty will be calculated at 95 % confidence level (K= 2) = ± combined
