In my exciting experiment, which lubricant helps a

skateboard slide the farthest. I used multiple slippery objects to see what would help it

slides farther. In my experiment I thought that wax would be the best. I thought that wax

would be the slipperiest because if you melt wax it slides a lot. I also thought it could

have been wax because you use was to help your skateboard slide on a curb.

Which Lubricant Makes Skateboards Slide Farthest?

Lubricant greatly affects the way that a skateboard slides. There are many factors that

play a role in this. Friction is one of the biggest factors that affects this.

How Does Friction Affect Skateboarding?

Friction affects skateboarding in many ways. Friction is the resistance of movement.

There are two main types of friction: static and kinetic. Static friction involves two surfaces that

aren’t moving. Kinetic friction is involved in moving object. It acts as a stopping force. Friction

takes form against a moving object in stationary objects. If there is enough friction between two

objects, it can create a spark or a fire. Some surfaces generate greater friction than others

(Ghose).

Which Lubricant Makes Skateboards Slide Farthest?

Lubricant also has a significant effect on friction. Contact between a skateboard and the
Fundner 2

ground creates friction, which will eventually stop the skateboard. Even if the actual board

doesn't make contact with the ground, the board will eventually come to a stop because of

friction between the wheels and the ground. Without friction, a rolling skateboard would roll

forever. Friction will always affect a rolling skateboard, but lubricants can defy friction.

Lubricant on a skateboard can help the board slide further because in goes against the effect of

friction. The stronger the friction, the faster the skateboard will stop. However, lubricants can

help reduce the strength of friction.

How Does Lubricant Affect Friction?

Lubricants affect friction by making a slippery surface so it will slide better and so that there is

less friction and items can slide better. It will also help a rolling object spin faster.

How Does Friction Affect rolling Objects?

It slows it down by going against the rolling object. The rolling object will then start to slow

down and stop.

What Is Friction?

It is the force that slows down the moving object so that it doesn’t move forever

How Does Friction Affect Sliding Objects?

It slows it down so that it doesn’t move forever, if friction wasn’t a thing then there would be

sliding objects everywhere.

I thought that wax would go the farthest, I found that I was wrong and it was actually paste. T
 he

paste went 11 feet taking the win. I thought that wax would win, instead it actually got 3 feet.

2nd place went to shaving cream, and 3rd went to soap. In my conclusion I was wrong, even

though I was wrong, it was a super fun experiment to make and record and i hope to do

something like this next year.
