METHOD STATEMENT FOR
CRACK REPAIR BY EPOXY INJECTION
The following steps are normally used in epoxy injection with StoPox IH BV system, low viscosity
epoxy resin.
1. Surface where epoxy sealer are to be applied are prepared by using a disk grinder or a wire
brush. In the event of any oil remains, it is to be wiped off with thinner.
3. Mix StoPox SK 21 S, epoxy sealer at ratio by volume 2 : 1 with a scrapper. The component A is
white and B is black, the correct mixed consistency is achieved when the mixture becomes grey.
Please note that all advice, recommendations, specifications or information are given in good faith. While efforts are made to ensure that they are accurate and correct, Sto SEA Pte Ltd has no
continuous control over where or how the products are applied. As such, Sto SEA Pte Ltd cannot accept any liability either directly or indirectly arising from the use of these products.
4. Seal the surface of each crack with the epoxy sealer and leave a gap of approximately 25mm to
the marked locations. This gap is to receive the Sto EP Nipple.
5. Apply the epoxy sealer to the edges of the nipples and place them into the gap. The center of
each nipple must be aligned to the crack and the epoxy sealers overlap each other. Firmly apply
pressure to the nipple until sealer flows out from the four anchor holes. Do not remove the
overflow sealer as it serves as anchors. Allow sealer to set for at least 4 hours.
6. Mix StoPox IH BV, epoxy resin in a clean container. The ratio by volume is 5:2. Initially, the
mixture is blur and should be mixed until it becomes clear again. Draw the resin into Sto EP
Injector, affix the stopper and rubber bands. Standby enough resin-filled injectors.
6. Screw the Injector into the nipple and start the injection process by releasing the stopper. Should
injection resin be exhausted in the Injector, replace it a new resin-filled injector. The process is
repeated until no more resin can be injected and there should be balance of resin in all the
injectors.
Note: This process of ensuring balance of resin in the all the injectors is very important as it is
an indication to show that the crack is fully filled.
7. When the injected resin has hardened for 12 hours, remove the nipples with chisel and
hammer. Use a grinder or a disk sander to remove excess material to give the structure an even
surface.
Recycling of injectors
Once resin in the injector has hardened sufficiently, it can be removed with a metal rod pushing from
the front. Remaining of the resin sticking to surfaces of the injector can be removed with hot water
and scrapping.

Application
Substrate preparation The substrate to be treated must be sound, dry and free from any contaminants which
may prevent good adhesion.
If necessary, the surface should be prepared by mechanical means.
Consumption When use as a primer or sealer, coverage rate is approximately 200 - 300g/m2,
depending on porosity of the substrate.
Cleaning of tools Tools must be cleaned immediately after use with thinner.
Delivery
Colour Colourless
Storage
Storage life/conditions The shelf life of StoPox IH BV is approximately 12 months if stored in cool dry conditions.
Special notes
Safety Precautions After full curing, StoPox IH BV is physiologically harmless. Keep the resin and hardener
away from eyes, mouth and skin. Do not inhale vapour. Protective gloves should be used
when handling this product. If skin contact with resin occurs, cleaned immediately with
soap and plenty of water. DO NOT use solvent. The use of goggles is recommended,
however, should accidental eye contamination occur, rinse thoroughly with plenty of
clean running water and seek medical treatment immediately.
