2.0 PRODUCTS

2.1 General

In general, cable shall consist of a multi conductor assembly as described on the

datasheets. Cables shall be suitable for installation in cable tray, in indoor and outdoor
locations, suitable for direct burial, and supported by messenger. They shall comply with
the crush and impact requirements of Type MC cable and when not provided with a
metallic sheath they shall be identified as Type TC-ER.

2.2 Equipment

A. Conductors

Conductors shall be annealed uncoated copper with class B stranding and shall be sized
as indicated on the datasheets.

B. Insulation

Single conductors shall have ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) flame retardant insulation.

C. Ground Wires
Power and Water Utility Company for Jubail and Yanbu (MARAFIQ) Master Specification MQ-SP-E-6018
Project Name: Date: 01 Apr 2011
Contract Number: Page 6 of 8
Revision 1

SPECIFICATION – LOW VOLTAGE (300 V TO 1000V) POWER AND CONTROL CABLE

A bare copper ground wire shall be provided for all cables where the power conductor is
larger than number 10 AWG (4mm2).

D. Fillers

Fillers shall be used as necessary to give the completed cable a substantially circular
cross-section. Filler shall be of an inert, non-hygroscopic material.

E. Metallic Sheath

Metallic sheaths, if specified on the datasheet, a metallic sheath of interlocked aluminum

tape, interlocked steel tape or wire armor shall be applied over the assembled core of the
cable. Steel used in wire armored sheaths shall be galvanized.

F. Jacket

A PVC jacket of moisture resistant flame retardant material shall be applied over the
entire cable assembly

2.3 Inspection And Testing

A. Inspection

1. Marafiq and/or Marafiq’s Representative may inspect cable at manufacturer’s site at

its discretion.

2. Material and workmanship shall be subject to Marafiq’s inspection and testing after
delivery to the site. In case any cables are found to be defective in material or
workmanship, or otherwise not in conformance with the requirements of this
specification, Manufacturer shall replace or repair cable at Manufacturer’s cost.

B. Testing

1. Prior to start of fabrication, manufacturer shall submit a complete listing of all

routine and type tests to be performed and certified, in accordance with IEEE
standards. The listing shall clearly specify the method and sampling.

2. Test results in conformance with this specification shall be submitted prior to

shipment of cable.

3. The following routine tests shall be performed:
