- to review student’s previous vocabulary environment
- to develop abilities of explain different words from context
- to read for specific information

Objectives:
-to identify meanings
-to solve exercises using new words or expressions
- to practice vocabulary
-to develop abilities of reading for general information

FUNCTIONS:
- choosing suitable words
- bringing arguments;
- supporting arguments with examples;

Students interaction: pair work, group work and individual work.
TIME: 50 minutes

Activity 1 (3 minutes) –Warm up


The teacher greets the students and asks who is absent.
She writes the title of the lesson and announces the objectives.

Activity 2 – Lead –in ( 7 min)


Teacher’s activity
The teacher writes on the board few words related to the topic
they will practice today. The students must match the words in
order to make proper collocations

The students (after solving and matching the words) must predict the
title of the lesson.

The teacher writes on the board the title of the lesson and announces
the objectives.
Student’s activity:
They will answer and predict the title.
Interaction: S-S, T-S, frontal
Skills: writing, listening, speaking

Activity 2 (15 min)- Reading comprehension


Teacher’s activity
The teacher asks the students to explain the title of the text they are
about to read.

She gives the meaning of certain, difficult words and asks them to
read the text telling in the same time that they will have to answer
seven questions given by the text.
Student’s activity
They read and guess the meaning of the words.

Activity 3 ( 10 minutes) Practice


Teacher’s activity
The teacher asks the students to name few problems that our society
deals with.
She write on the board few of them asking the students to tell their
opinion about how these problems affects our lives:
Acid rain, gases, ozone layer, changes in climate, greenhouse
effect, toxic wastes, fossils fuels, pollution leach
Then they have to fill in the ex 1,2 pg 97 in order to practice
vocabulary related to the topic
Student’s activity
They work in pairs, reading their answers or writing the rest of the
answers on the board.

Activity 4 ( 10 min)- Production activity


Teacher’s activity :
The teacher asks the students to explain the words used in the ex
given (annex1,2) and choose the best answer to fill in the text.

Student’s activity:
They will write on their notebooks the necessary information.
They may work in pairs.

Interaction: S-S, T-S

Activity 4- Feedback- 4min


The teacher gives mark to the most active students.
