CREATING A TASK FOR PERFORMANCE-BASED ASSESSMENT

I. TOPIC: Modals
II. PERFORMANCE STANDARD(S): The learner transfers learning by
composing a variety of journalistic texts, the contents of which may be
used in composing and delivering a memorized oral speech featuring
used of properly acknowledged information sources, grammatical
signals for opinion-making, persuasion, and emphasis, and appropriate
prosodic features, stance, and behavior. (EN8G-IVe-14: Use direct and
indirect (reported) speech in journalistic writing)
III. OBJECTIVES OF THE LESSON:
1. Define the definition of Modals
2. Differentiate their proper uses and necessity and
3. Demonstrate skills through performance using the Modals in
conversation

V. SPECIFIC GUIDELINES (Accomplish the following in details. Be specific.)
A. Setting/Scenario: There is going to be a celebrity talk-show and the
students are both the guests and the host.
B. Role: The student would act as a celebrity who’s promoting a project
in the celebrity talk-show. And the hosts would interview them and
try to get the audience involve on it.
C. Task: The host would ask the guest questions and the guests should
answer them creatively and must satisfy both the crowd and the
host. The rubric is prepared that includes how articulate and correct
the students performance in the culminating activity.
D. Audience: The Celebrity talk-show would be presented in the whole
class and will also be recorded.
E. Timeframe: The class is given a month to prepare for their costumes,
props and lines. Every week there should be a report in progress. And
it would be presented as a final output.
