Design of Project Management Software (Application) to meet the Detail

need for Domestic Building Construction in Nigeria

Background
Project management is the application of processes, methods, knowledge, skills and
experience to achieve the project objectives. Project management is the planning, organizing
and managing efforts to accomplish a successful project. A project is usually deemed to be a
success if it achieves the objectives according to their acceptance criteria, within an agreed
timescale and budget.

The planning aspect for a project defines how well the successful execution will go. In
domestic Building construction many Individuals or New Potential Estate developers
intending to venture into owning their own home seem not to have the a good grasp of what
is take to have their dream actualised. This individual desiring to own a house sometime end
into the hands of fraudulent builders who extort exorbitant fee that seems to dash their
aspirations. The ignorance among many people who are neither estate developer nor
builders is the reason many see the concept of owning their own home to be far reaching.

Objective

The objective of this research project is to develop program that can be used for collection of
domestic home construction requirements when the User specify some certain parameter it
automatically produce resource requirements, budget requirement and schedule
requirements based on initial constraints keyed in. This Application will also be useful for
monitoring and supervision during the actual construction works.
Scope

The scope of this project proposal is domestic house Construction in Nigeria. The software
will be Nigeria localised and will be designed in such a way that it can be installed into mobile
phones. The Programming language to be used for this will be a High level language such
as Python or C++

Potential Problem this Software (App) can solve

The software (App) will be a tool for non-professionals and readily available for a quick and
sound Judgment for professional builders.

Conclusion

This project will be a plus to reduce poverty because it will help an Average Nigerian to see
simple options for planning and execution of building construction because an optimized
Building requirement from Earth works to Roof erections requirement can be known before
the start-up of construction. The value of cost benefit analysis input can easily be obtained
using various options which will be made available in the program. The threats and
opportunity can be ascertained via the Risk analysis option of the program. This program will
help in mitigating substandard houses been erected because the design resource loading will
ensure all construction requirement will meet relevant Government regulation, construction
standards, codes and procedures.
