Learning Objective:

The work immersion program is part of Senior High School curriculum consisting of 40

hours of hands-on experience or work simulation which we had to undergo. And it is

one of the course requirements for graduation. The purpose why they conducted this

kind of activity is to enhance further the skills and knowledge of students and for us to

be well equipped in facing the challenges that lays ahead us. The work immersion aims

to expose us to the realities of environment in a workplace and to enhance our work

ethics and habits, and to prepare us to meet the needs and challenges of employment,

entrepreneurship, or higher education after graduation. And also by giving us the

exposure to the actual workplace setting, they also provided us relevant learning

experiences. It is also an opportunity for us to showcase and develop our skills and

knowledge. Work immersion is well-organized and conducted in a place where students

will become productive, so it’s really a best training activity. It also helps students to

understand more the concept that they had discussed in class.

Learning Experience:

As part of the K-12 Curriculum, we had to undergo work immersion in a business

organization or establishment with work requirements related to our field of

specialization. We were required to gain relevant learning experiences through actual

work. And in order to help us reinforce our knowledge and enhance our skills, we were

assigned to a specific business organization parallel to our specialization, which is the

TNGC Marketing (Sophia Jewellery). We were oriented with the nature and mandate of

the institution, as well as the staffs who would function as our advisers and supervisors

as we initiated our training. Our work environment had been comfortable because of the

friendly and approachable staff which was essential for us to effectively absorb all the

knowledge they taught us. As we became acquainted with the work, we were assigned

to make a variety of reports and presentations, send greetings to the previous

customers, answer the customer’s messages, interview students and take photo and

films, and make an output. The most exciting part of our work immersion was the

knowledge. And my most unforgettable moment during my work immersion was the task

to interview and film people. Getting to socialize with some students was a nice and

amazing experience for me because I got to meet new people and got to talk with them

even just in a short span of time because we were assigned to interview them. We

asked them various questions that concerns their stay in the school and they happily
cooperated and answered while the camera was on record. The videos that we made

had been approved and that was so overwhelming because the struggles that we

encountered while doing the task became of use, it was all worth it. I’ve got to meet new

people with different needs, I’ve learned how to deal with them, and the most enjoyable

part of this activity is that we can build a relationship with them. We also learned new

techniques on how to handle businesses and the things that we should do in order for

the enterprise to run and grow. Experience is really the best teacher because the work

immersion activity gave us a lot of knowledge that we can surely keep and treasure.
Challenges/Problem Encountered:

Maybe one of the downside of the work immersion activity is the outcome after doing

the said activity. Although having immersion is for the students to enhance our skills and

abilities, but we can’t also disregard the fact that the development of the students or

result of the activity, differs from student to student. Like for example, for me the work

immersion ended up well and productive, but we can’t disregard the possibility that it

might also be stressful to some other students. Some students might did great and had

showcase their capabilities and improved their skills, but some also might found it

exhausting. And the time also. Students must know how to manage their time to

finished the task given on time. And also the safety of the students, because some

activities were done outside the school and if something risky will happen to the

students, the school is not liable for it.

Conclusion: (Include realization and assessment)

After everything that we had experience, I can say that the work immersion is really a

great activity in order to make the Senior High School program aligned and consistent

with work standards. Because it helped us in developing and enhancing our skills that

are relevant to the needs of the job market in the area. The work immersion program

was really a great opportunity for us. We gained real world experience and learned a

variety of job skills. Confucius was right when he said, “Involve me, and I will

understand.” Because through active engagement and real time experiences, we will

surely have new learning. The experience during the activity was really helpful and

meaningful because we gained more knowledge, ideas, insights and backgrounds.

Experiencing the work immersion is not as easy as some think it could be. We

sometimes experienced some hardships too. But if there is no struggle, there is no

progress so we had to conquer those hardships and have faith that we can do it and

have our task done. So I gained some lessons like to have perseverance in doing the

task assigned for me, even if I feel tired, I shouldn’t give up easily and just rest for a

while and then continue again. That is why I considered experience as one of life’s

greatest teacher. The experience helped me on how to be a responsible, a better

person and a successful professional someday.
