Reflections from the Business

In my experience, handling and making the business successful is not easy. It is not
easy to understand certain things until you really undergo it. I gained such a wonderful
experience of running a business and gaining knowledge through this course. Being a
student, for me the business was a testing ground to try every principle of management
I learnt in my other modules. My learning gave me a guided approach towards
business. The business being very practical and the investment amount being minimal
gave me courage to try new things, as the risk is minimal. Apart from this the classroom
group was more useful in gaining knowledge.

On the other hand, the process of planning of our class business is associated with
many parts;
IT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:
● What would be our main course product?
● How can we acquire many customers to buy our product?
● What would be the business name?
● What can we associate with our product?
● How can we promote our product?
● What are the equipment we will use?

It was very interesting to see students developing new innovative products. The class
room itself became a forum for a variety of businesses. So this provided the opportunity
to learn mutually from other business. As everybody helped each other and made it a
successful business, it was an opportunity to see everybody’s ideas transforming into
products and becoming a reality. Apart from that this experience also gave an insight
of demand based products in the society. It was interesting to see products with less
manufacturing cost gain demand and profit from sales. Though each of the group was
competitors, we gained more knowledge through sharing the experiences and seeing
each other’s business experiences. I personally feel that the blend of the creative
economy students with other students is a right blend to develop new businesses.

The product that we choose among the choices is samgyupsal or korean barbecue
with a side dish. This product has many side dish choices like kimchi, egg, corn, lettuce
and cheese sauce. This product has two choices; set A (Pork Samgyup) and set
b( Chicken Samgyup). We also made a snack which was a tasty potato dog and
different types of drinks. Our drinks are blue lemonade, red ice tea and bottled water.
We decided to name our business as “SA ANO” to catch the attention of the
customers. We also made a facebook page to promote and introduce our product
and handed out leaflets. This helps us to attract and acquire many customers. All of our
equipment all comes from the distribution of our class and some of the tools are from
our homes, especially the tools for cooking. As for the budgeting, the whole class
decided to distribute ₱250.00 each to make our product possible.

After deciding the planning, the leaders of our classroom decided to assign the
students in our class their respective works to do depending on their schedule of
shifting. All of us have main tasks to do and make. The class is divided into 3 groups that
will do this things:
● COOKING MANAGEMENT
● MAINTENANCE
● CASHIER
In this part, the class agreed to have their own scheduling plan because some of us are
athletes. The goal of our schedule is to make all of us do our own work and monitor the
performance of each other.

As our product is food, we should make sure that the quality and taste of the product
reaches the standard of our customers. Cooking is a painstaking process, with all its
measurements and all its instructions. The separation of some ingredients, the
combination of others. In gaining more customers, we needed to distribute fliers to
them to help us make more customers have learned from this class that food is not
simply an object, it is something that can bring overwhelming joy. It is such a wonderful
and joyful experience, there are a lot of things that we can learn from the class
business. I think that this experience can gain more knowledge in making our own
business in the future.

The goal of our business is to improve our entrepreneurship skills and to expand our
business. We also want to earn a lot of money in our business. This is the overall long-
term target or goal of the business, whereas business objectives are the short-term steps
a business needs to take to meet its overall aims. They can give you a clear focus,
motivate employees and set targets for your business to work towards.
In my experience, my everyday life has changed since the day we started. I discovered
new knowledge and learned about a business. From the processing of the plans for our
business to the end is not easy. We can see the hard work and teamwork of each other.
You can see that all of us are enjoying and doing their best to achieve the goal of our
business. Just as a plant cannot survive without water, similarly a business cannot sustain
without profit. We need to maintain the profitability of our business because we want to
have a successful growth of our business.

On the first day of the business, all of us were assigned in our designated roles and able
to experience the hardship of a business. We assumed that the supplies and ingredients
we had were enough, but before lunch it was already sold out. We didn’t handle it well
but as the whole team participated in helping to solve our problem, we were able to
work it out. It was so hard to bring more customers and to help on the maintenance
team. There are a lot of tasks to do and all of us are getting along with each other for
our business. Everyone is enjoying their first time experiencing this kind of activity. After a
whole day, the whole team reached our earning and we didn’t expect that it was too
much.

As days passed by, our business was earning more than the average but it was also
getting difficult because it was too hard to work in sunny and hot weather while
cooking and gaining more customers. There was a lot of suffering and problems that
our business and the workers are facing. It was too difficult to continue doing each
other’s jobs, but all of that is part of handling a business and even if it is hard, we just
think that we need to enjoy what we are doing to make it successful, especially if it was
just for a week. We get many compliments and comments from our customers that our
product is a quality and reliable product. They also said that we have great workers
and that we meet their expectations and satisfaction. This encourages us to continue
working hard to improve our business.

On the last day of the business, we decided to offer our products in a discounted price
range to the customers who want to buy our product because we want to get their
attention and to get our business done by recovering because we don’t have enough
necessary resources and funds because all of us are tired and want to get it done. We
are really happy in the results of the outcome of this activity because we’re able to get
knowledge and support from our customers and our business. It was a great opportunity
to experience and engage in the business because it will help us in our future goals and
careers that we want to pursue and achieve.

In this business, I have learned many skills that I can take with me throughout my
business career. I believe the ultimate goal of this class was to essentially aid my
classmates and I in getting a job and how to properly act in a business environment.
These skills I have learned have ultimately made me a more respectable candidate
when it came to applying for a job as well as giving me a different perspective
regarding the business world as a whole. Throughout this class we have had many
projects relating to basically all the obstacles students have regarding acquiring an
internship or a full time job.

As I end this reflection, I have learned that I can be independent, I always knew myself
as someone who could do mostly everything on their own. I became interested in
making a business after this activity because it became an interesting industry even if
there are more failures and challenges to face. Business is not easy to handle but you
need to have goals in reaching your objectives in your business. To be successful in
sustainable business practices often requires entrepreneurship and innovation. The is
most relevant to sustainable businesses focused on offering new products and services
in response to societal concerns. The importance of entrepreneurship and innovation
also applies to companies that change how they produce products and services. The
latter companies can use innovative practices and entrepreneurship to establish their
brand name and to be market leaders in doing things that create shared value for
society and their companies and also, over time, contribute to changes in practices in
their industry.
