IV. Procedures
1. Song
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson

Group the pupils into two. The teacher will divide the board into two halves one for
each team. They will write words with prefixes as many as they can, only one word per
pupil. When they hear the buzzer it means that time is up. The team with the most
number of correct words wins the game.

in the box. Write only the letter of the correct answer.

A. Setting of Standards
Today you will listen to a dialogue about one’s ambition. From the dialogue, you will

be able to infer the meaning of different words using suffixes. But before that, what should

you remember when listening to a dialogue?

B. Listening to a Dialogue

Narrator: Some grade five pupils are talking about their ambitions in life.

Ardhie: When I grow up, I want to be a biologist, because I love plants and animals.

Princess: I want to be a teacher. I like to teach children how to read, write and count.

Aaron: I want to invent many things. So I want to be an inventor.

Ron Jarred: I love acting, so I want to be an actor.

Jiro: I like to be a singer. My mother told me that I have a golden voice

John Francis: I want all people to be well fed. So I will plant fruits, vegetables and rice.

Someday I will be a farmer.

Phoenix: Me? I want to go to other places. I want to drive cars. I will be a driver

someday.

Teacher Niña: Very good children. So, you should study hard to achieve your ambition.
Pupils: Yes, Ma’am! Thank you.

Class, the letters/syllables added at the end of root word is called a suffix.

Notice the words with suffixes. These refer to persons.

class will guess what is being acted out by the member.
