1. INTRODUCTION.
M/s. Shreeji Group established in the year 1995, with main objective of providing
highest standard of integrity and quality in shipping related service. Further, M/s.
2
Shreeji group is now establishing a Coke Oven WHR Power Plant 10MW at
Jamnagar, Gujarat. The Latitude is 22 34’26.25” N and Longitude 70 13’41.73” E
and MSL: 15mt.

2. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT.

The scope of work listed as below;

1. Boiler
2. Turbine & Generator Building
3. Air Cool Condenser
4. D M Plant
5. Storage Tank.
6. Switch Yard, etc.

The detailed scope for above buildings is as follows.

A. Discussion with you regarding project requirements of various civil works and
related activities.
B. Preparation of estimates based on input drawings.
C. Drawing as per specification of works and preparation of tender documents.
D. Assisting in tender evaluation & fixing up of contractors.
E. Preparation of release of detailed designs and drawings for RCC, Equipment’s
and Structural steel buildings-based on the input drawings received from supplier /
client.
F. Scrutiny and certification of contractor’s bills if required.
G. Attend to modifications which may become necessary at any stage of the works.

3. STRUCTURAL DESIGN.

3
The main considerations for the design of structure should be as follows: -
a. Structure safety, serviceability and functionality.
b. Availability of material, equipment and expertise.
c. Constructability and ease of maintenance.
d. Durability.

3.1 DESIGN APPROACH:

Structural Modeling: Three-dimensional model of building shall be generated

using latest versions of structural design software STAAD-Pro. All the
columns and beams will be idealized as line elements. All the shear walls will
be idealized as plate / shell element. The structure shall be analyzed and
designed for all possible combinations of gravity loads (dead and live loads),
and lateral loads (earthquake load, wind loads, and temperature loads as per
applicable / relevant IS Codes.)

Computer Models, Structural Analysis and Design: A preliminary three-

dimensional computer model will be formulated, incorporating all gravity, wind
and seismic loads using Response Spectrum Method, to develop the concept
framing for the building and ensure that the designed structural system
provides satisfactory global building response. The model will be further
developed during subsequent design to carry out detailed design. In general,
the following software shall be utilized during the various stages of the design
process.

Software’s Description
STAAD Pro-V8i/Latest 3-Dimensional FEM Software for Building Analysis &
Designs with In-house spreadsheets.
AutoCAD Software for Drafting and Detailing

3.2 GEO-TECH INVESTIGATION.

A Geotechnical Engineering Investigation for the project is conducted and the reports
for the same will be adopted for the design of foundations of structures.

4. MATERIAL DEAD LOADS.

All the permanent loads on the structure shall be applied as dead load. The
dead load in a building shall comprise of self-weight of beams, columns, walls,
partitions, floors, roofs and include the weight of all other permanent
constructions in the building and shall conform to IS:1911 Schedule of unit
weights of buildings material. Unit weight of various materials considered on
the structural members considered follows: -
IS 875 PART 1

7 115mm Brick work with 12/15 mm plaster 0.26 T/m2
8 230mm Brick work with 12/15 mm plaster 0.49 T/m2

Following loads shall be considered in structure for analysis.

i) Self -wt. of structure.
ii) Slab thickness and floor finish – as per actual.
iii) Filling for sunken areas.
iv) Any other loads envisaged during the detailed engineering.
v) Wall loads – as per actual.
vi) Landscape load: A minimum of 750mm thick wet earth filling shall be
taken at ground floor for non- tower area.
5. LIVE LOAD.

Live Loads on the entire floor shall comprise all loads other than dead loads. The
minimum live loads on different occupancies shall be considered as per IS 875 (Part
2).

6. EARTHQUAKE LOADING.

The structure is to be designed for the minimum static and seismic base shear set
out by IS 893-2016 (Part 1) latest using the parameters shown I the table below.

Design Earthquake 10% Chances of being exceeded

within a 50-year return period.

7. RESPONSE UNDER SEISMIC CONDITIONS.
Seismic analysis of structure shall be carried out by response spectrum method for
the design of structural elements (Columns, Beam,Slabs & Shear Wall) as required.
