Each week you will cook or bake something at home, photograph it, using your
plating skills and write a summary.
GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE DINNER FOR YOUR FAMILY!
Pick one option to make from the list below:  

 Fried rice using the recipe below


 Fried rice using a recipe you found, get creative if you want-add a
protein:) 
 Any rice based recipe, using a recipe you found
 Find another recipe of something to make  

NOTE: I realize it is hard to make it to the grocery store so if you


need to improvise with ingredients you have at home, that's fine.  
Make sure you submit via email (sstiker@lphs.net) the following to
receive credit:
             -Recipe of what you made
             -Photograph of you making/with your food
             -Paragraph (4-5 complete sentences) typed summary of
what you learned.  Feel free to include what techniques were used,
what you were able to practice, what was challenging, if you had to
substitute any ingredients, would you make it again, etc.
QUICK & EASY FRIED RICE

Ingredients

1 tablespoon canola oil

2 cloves garlic minced

2 teaspoons minced ginger

2 green onions sliced and separated, what could you substitute??

3/4 cup frozen carrots or small diced fresh

3/4 cup frozen peas

2 eggs, cooked and chopped

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon sesame oil

3 1/2 cups cold cooked white rice, leftover works great

Leftover protein – chicken, beef, pork, bacon, ect.

Instructions

1. Heat oil in a wok or nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Add in garlic, ginger and
the white portion of the green onions. Cook until fragrant.
2. Add carrots & peas, cook until heated and softened.
3. Add rice (and protein if using) continue to cook until rice slightly crisped and brown.
Don’t stir too much, you do want to get a little bit of caramelization.
4. Add in cooked egg, soy sauce & sesame oil.
5. Garnish with remaining green onion and sesame seeds if desired.
